THRILLER: The Galilee Plot

Rate this book
A lethal microorganism, adapted to attack only the DNA of Jews, is running riot in a settlement in Galilee. Racially motivated biological terror is the chilling specter evoked by renowned storyteller Shlomo Kalo in this fast-moving and thought-provoking novel. While on vacation in Zurich, an Israeli microbiologist and his wife learn of a frightening development back in their homeland. A former colleague of the husband, now a radicalized Muslim, has set lose from afar a disastrous strain in Israel. The couple along with the Mossad are drafted in to avert disaster. As the story races from Zurich to Berlin, New York to Israel, the thrilling plot is interlaced with philosophical and spiritual insights about life in today's chaotic world, as we root for the humorous and harmonious couple to save the day. "This work of Kalo's is an interesting, fast-paced read, and a story very relevant in these recent troubled days. I was particularly charmed by the narrator's relationship to his wife, which comes across with much tenderness amidst the worry and intrigue of the main plot." Millicent Bennett, HarperCollins, US

Interesting Thriller

Interesting thriller very topical at the time I read it. It deals with the Israeli Arab issues. With biological warfare which with the COVID pandemic around at the time also made it topical. Very good read

Hasda (village), Galilee. A lethal micro-organism that only attacks Jews is taking its toll on the race/culture.

The Arabs are not affected.
Shmulik ask Howard Taylor Ricketts to explain his research/theory on Rickettsia (a bacterium transmitted by deer ticks).
Will the outbreak ever be eradicated?

A very awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A very well written biological terrorism book. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great biological terror movie, or better yet a mini TV series. It wasn’t as exciting/adventurous as I like them so I will only rate it at 4/5 stars.

A very interesting read. The writer is quite a virtuoso, plays beautifully two orchestras to sound a one good, funny, intriguing and suspenseful book.
There are a few layers in this story:
first is the biological terrorism plot schemed by a hateful Muslim scientist and the efforts to stop it and catch its mastermind. This is done by the Mossad and the narrator plus his lady singer wife.
The second is the harmonious and full of true care relationship between the narrator, a microbiologist who once studied with and knew the Muslim scientist, and his worried wife.
The third is the intriguing and nonconventional insights into today's life, society and spirituality that the author weaves into the fabric of the plot. So it is even three orchestras that the author plays and the outcome is a very captivating book. I recommend it.
