Gender, Identity and Multiple Marginalities: Essays in Honour of Professor Yogendra Singh (4)

Rate this book
This book is the last of the four-volume festschrift in honor of one of the stalwarts of sociology in India, Professor Yogendra Singh. In this volume, essays have been placed in two sections: women/gender and identity in India, and the multiple marginalities in Indian society. The first part of the book looks at the gender dimension of globalization, covering issues such as women in cyberspace, women in the sciences, the safety of women, economic equality and gender neutrality, women in urban space, etc. The second section touches upon important issues of identity and marginalization of tribals, dalits, minorities, the aged, children, and the disabled. Providing a good discussion on the ongoing debates, this collection provides a deeper understanding of gender, identity, and the issue of marginalization in the globalizing society. [Subject: India Studies, Sociology, Gender Studies, Women's Studies, Minority Studies]
