This book needs to be read by anyone who comes into contact with kids on the autism spectrum. Teachers, baseball coaches, dance teachers, parents, grandparents - really everyone! It reads like a medical journal (hence the 4 star rating. Otherwise it would have been 5 stars), but has some VERY important information! It teaches caregivers how to recognize when kiddos on the spectrum are starting their meltdown cycles. It also gives ways to help stop the meltdown cycle. I honestly will probably buy this book. It is that important to me.

As a newly realized autistic adult, I found the book to be a good source book, but mainly only for special education teachers and school professionals. It's mainly for use with children. I wish more care had been given to my issues when I was in school because I don't have the support now. I don't think the book is really geared towards parents or ASD individuals. Still, I'll keep it in case I end up working with children on the spectrum.

Suggests that autistic people are children and irrational. Also quotes Autism Speaks, an anti-autism hate group. Tries to make autistic people neurotypical. Shame.

This is a hand book for management of autistic individuals, especially children, in group settings. But a parent or loved one of an autistic individual can glean some helpful insights.
