Tierney James teaches Fundamentals of World Geography at a nearby college. Besides living on the Qualla Reservation for a time, floating down the Okavango River in Botswana, Africa and exploring China, Tierney has been fortunate enough to serve as Solar System Ambassador for NASA's Jet Propulsion Lab.She served as Astronomy Night Chairperson for several years in her school district and was awarded the Teacher of the Year award by her peers in 2007. The setting for An Unlikely Hero was a real life experience for Tierney in northern California. She later moved her family to a Missouri mining town where she raised her children. These days if Tierney isn't writing, teaching or traveling you'll find her working in the garden.
Once again, Tierney James writing kept me on the edge of my chair. Rooftop Angels is a great book . Each time I thought I had the story figured out, Tierney threw an unsuspecting curve into the story. Looking forward to seeing more of Captain Hunter and Tessa's love story unfold.
She is very good writer, but in the enigma series she doesn't seem to be able to decide if she is writing a heaving bosom novel or a suspenseful action novel. No more enigma books for me.
Absolutely loved this book - it is a thriller that thrills (which, sadly, is missing in some books!). I loved the return of Tessa, suburban housewives turned agent. Largely set in the rugged landscape of Afghanistan, this book focuses on Tessa's ability to survive, while still maintaining her softness. While on a "safe" mission, she gets caught up in a fight for survival, and must protect a group of young orphans (all female . . . an extra level of danger in that environment). Though the training she's received as a new Enigma agent comes in handy, largely she relies on her own skill and cunning while facing terrorists, drug dealers, rogue agents, the Taliban, and crooked government representatives. I highly recommend this book (and, wowzers, what an ending!).
