"My skin was on fire, burning with desire and the knowledge that no matter what my logical mind was saying, I was going to do this. I was hot and ready, my pulse thundering in my ear. The air I breathed was even thicker now, and laced with lust. Mine. His.
I slid my eyes down to his mouth. His lips were slightly parted and I could see the tips of his fangs. Vampire fangs. This was crazy. Ridiculous.
I licked my bottom lip with my own tongue, wondering what those fangs would taste like. Where was my mind? What was happening to it?
The doubt disappeared as soon as it emerged, and I was pulled back in.
I was the one that stepped into him and stood on my toes to kiss him. He dipped his head because he was that much taller, and when our lips connected that magic crawled through my body again. His lips were just short of fire.
“This is so wrong,” I mumbled against his lips. And yes, it was wrong. It wasn’t who I usually was. It wasn’t what I usually did. But God help me, it was who I was now.
He backed me up so that my thighs hit the desk. I bent one leg and lifted it. He put a hand underneath it and jacked it up.
He was between my legs, pressing against me, my core aching for him now that he was this close. My skirt rode up. The only thing keeping it from going up all the way over my hips was his body keeping it roughly in place.
He reached behind my neck and pulled my hair loose. It fell over my shoulders in waves and he grabbed a handful. It didn’t hurt. It was the delicious kind of pain. If he kept at it, I was going to melt right through my panties."
Usually if a book is a short story standalone there is some kind of conclusion. This felt more like it got halfway there and ended. You can't stop at the build up. How does the relationship go while she's pregnant? Will they get married? Does she have a regular pregnancy with a half vamp baby? What happens with Tatiana? Because she seems like a problem that doesn't plan to go away quietly. What happens when and after the baby is born? How do they handle becoming parents? Is the baby half vampire, and what does that mean as far as powers, lifespan, will it grow normally like a human, can they walk in the sun like humans? Is there any issues with the vampire olds as they called it since he went against them and chose her and not tatiana and especially since shes pregnant and its never happened before? Do people want their baby or want to kill it because some would view it as a powerful miracle or a abomination to vamp race. How does her protective dad and brothers take her being with a vampire and pregnant? It left so many questions. I hope she either makes a book 2, or what would be better is a rewrite into a full length book. It ended up being a good story despite the premise and I think there's definitely enough to update, rewrite and add to and lengthen to a full length book even it it's only like 400 pages give or take. Now the characters could use a bit of work to build them a bit better. The fmc and her best friend if you want to call them that because they didn't really act like it, were a bit juvenile. The fmc was kinda bitchy for no reason and jaded. That may have been the point to show the relationship with him changed her, idk. But how she talked and acted didn't really endear you to her off the bat. So it would be nice to see her Arc in how she changes and grows. The mmc was underdeveloped as well he shows up and expects her to know his feelings when his actions were cold. I do like how he tried to rectify and show and tell her though. He was more open about his feelings and intentions than her. I'd just like to see more character building with him. And their relationship was pretty much they met and spent time together for weeks. It would be nice to get more to see how their relationship grows and pull you in more. What does she go to school for? What does he do for work, if he works? We don't really get a chance to know and understand the characters. Like I said I would definitely read a rewrite
Emma and Lauren her best friend are in college and they went to a nightclub called Kong. As Emma is dancing a woman keeps crowding her and finally she shoves her back. Big mistake as that woman is a vampire and so the man that was with the woman grabbed her to pull her outside. That's when her arousal hits and Dimitri, the vampire smells it too. So he takes her upstairs to an office in the bar to have sex. It was wonderful and he ends up giving her an orgasmic bite on her next. The next day he just appears in her house and ask her to dinner. So he holds her tightly and they materialize very fast at his house. She didn't know he could materialize in and out of places like that. Everything is going great until to Tatania just shows up. She's a lady vampire from last night that she pushed. She just appeared at the dinner table just like Dimitri does. But Dimitri got her to leave. Emma and Dimitri stayed together happily and there's a big surprise along the way so there's a very happy ending in this story. This is only a 39 page short story.
Hmm. This was a very short read. A little juvenile in writing and behavior of the characters. Read a little like a fanfic. It was way too short, considering the cliffhanger. Some editing issues, but nothing too major. The story itself was ok if you need a quick filler or are bored. Dimitri was not written well. He was a 100 plus year old vampire and spoke like a twenty-something man. The title has absolutely nothing to do with the story. The only reference to his money was when Emily saw his house. Emily and Lauren were written more like they were in high school. I did not like the ending. Another book is needed, however, I'm not sure I would read it.
Rant time: What bugged me about this book is the lack of proper world-building. The author didn't explain anything about whether vampires r made/born, then the breeding part was apparently a surprise to the hero as its supposed to be impossible, but of course the heroine managed it. The ending was lackluster as we didn't get to see what sort of future they'd have and it appears to be a standalone so there's no hope of resolving all the issues. If it was a story based purely on sex that could be pardoned as those books are rarely about anything more than throwing around love scenes willy nilly, but even that couldn't be said about this book as there are barely 2 such scenes in total. It was never explained who Tatiana was or why she was at the hero's home. As a matter of fact, even the title wasn't proper as there was no mention of the hero being a billionaire in the whole book, apart from a casual comment by the heroine about him appearing to be well off from seeing his home. Overall it was a huge disappointment.
PS: I apologize for dissing the author's hardwork, but this book just didn't do it for me. :)
