Fate isn’t always enough. Can they overcome the past to build a future together?
Felix Mulligan was captured by an alpha of the Highborn, an elite shifter group trying to breed their own army. He’s finally been rescued… but he’s not ready to accept that the life he led before he was taken is gone forever.
Businessman Keegan StoneClaw agrees to look out for Felix while he recovers, and the pair soon recognize the attraction that simmers between them. However, Felix’s captivity left him pregnant, and he doubts that the alpha would willingly raise another man’s child.
Even though they’re not yet bonded, Keegan’s protective nature drives him to desperate measures. Can he ensure that the Highborn will never target Felix again? And when the truth comes out, will the young omega forgive him?

3.5 stars rounded up, because I really loved the slow burn to this, and I enjoyed the characters. I'm a big fan of slow burn romances, especially when it's paranormal b/c so many of them have an element of insta-love to them, so this was great to read.
I actually liked that Felix was pregnant with someone else's baby, but Keegan just stepped right in and saw it as his. I love that. And I love Keegan making a den and trying to take care of Felix. I will say that I think it was a bit unbelievable (I know, how can I say that when the whole thing is unbelievable) that Keegan could just take off and not be at his job for months and not have consequences from that, but y'know, it all worked out in the end!
I was also happy to see characters from the previous books in this, too! I'm definitely looking forward to more in this series. It's fun!
I received a copy of this in exchange for an honest review.
This book was so great, just like the last one. I really enjoy the plot and uniqueness of these books. The characters are well written and when they are their shifter halves they are so detailed! I loved reading about Keegan and Felix getting the honey in their bear forms. I also really enjoyed that we got to see Rex again. The action scene in this is really well written, you can envision the clashing of teeth and claws.
Even though this is apart of a series I think this could be read as a standalone. Despite me not giving it a 5 star I still highly recommend this!
I have read the whole series, and the second book is very sweet and angsty, but THIS, this is the best of the serial. It is very slow, full of emotion, and I simply love both of the main characters, Felix and Kegan too.
Love this series We find ourselves in a story that Omega is Pregnant but not with his mates. Can he overcome things to get his happy ending. Looking forward to move in this series
A strong addition to the series! With every new book in this series, I get sucked in a little deeper, and I’m so glad for it! This standalone installment brings us Felix, another omega victim of the Highborn and Keegan, an alpha losing faith that he’ll ever find his mate. The connection between them is instant, but with Felix so shaken, it’s clear that Keegan is going to have to find a source of strength to help him refrain from approaching the overwhelmed man too quickly, regardless of how fiercely his protective instincts are screaming. One of my favorite things about mpregs is watching a formerly unshakeable alpha come to grips with how entirely enslaved he is to his mate, and Keegan was no exception as he finds a whole new understanding of Nitro’s seemingly overbearing behavior. As Felix struggles to accept so many dramatic changes to his life and the universe as he understands it, Keegan also wrestles with his instincts and is compelled to make hard decisions to protect his mate and their future together. This couple is so entertaining as they fall in love, with playful banter and an intensely physical bond that was impossible for me to resist. It was also great to revisit Nitro and Peter, and I couldn’t contain my excitement to see Hexan make a cameo, I am so anxious for his story… Please note that I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
This installment in the series, while enjoyable, is the weakest of the three so far. There were a number of things to recommend it to readers. It's perfect for those who like slow burn romance. I appreciated the quality descriptions of shifted times and some additional lore about shifters, witches, and warlocks. There is *plenty* of sex (almost a little too much once they finally got going). What was really nice was getting to spend some more time with Nitro, Peter, and baby Alexander. Peter is definitely who I would want for a friend going through this. (Their story still remains as my favorite of the three). I did have a few issues with the book, however. I found it highly unrealistic that the CEO of a major shipping company could oversee his company by cell phone in an hour each day while spending 4 months in the deep woods. I also felt the pace was somewhat slow, maybe a little too much of a slow burn, making it feel at times like little was happening. One thing that was overdone was the overprotective, posturing, aggressive Alpha syndrome where Nitro was roaring and almost at the point of attacking Keegan for months just because he was anywhere around Peter. How do these guys make it in normal society if they're on that much of a hair trigger? So a mix of things making it a 3-star rather than 4 star like Peter and Nitro's story. I am loving this series though, and eagerly await the next one!
It was alright... the writing was okay aside from some phrases and wordings that appeared several times, appearing a bit boring.
The slower romance was nice, as was the alpha instincts thing - Keegan acting like a jealous idiot and all the "I can't help it!"... Peter (and Rex) were the best and most interesting characters here.
I can't say I really liked it, mostly because once they started being intimate together, it became a pure smut story without anything else in it anymore. The whole alpha feeling protective and sweet with their omegas, not bearing any harm coming upon them, but as soon they go into bed it's all "I'm the boss here and you do what I say!" and spanking... just... no. And with alphas being the way they are, for me personally, the fact that Keegan would accept a child that came from his enemy as way too cheesy to be good.
I really liked this book! And I'm honestly really glad I started here first because I read Book 1 right after this and I'm glad I started with this book first. The first book wasn't bad, it just wasn't anything remarkable. And for some reason, this book appealed more to me. Plus, I have a weakness for babies and there were babies here! I'm going to check out the second book now =]
