Explicit sex scenes with OW and OM.

Books 7 and 8 are supposed to be Julie and Simon’s story (I haven’t read the first few books in the series and it’s not really necessary bc they focus on a different couple).

I guess at some point in book 6, Simon’s fling with hospital admin Pam is exposed when they’re in a car together and get into a serious accident that lands them in the hospital where they work. Books 7 and 8 are the fall out.

So, our hero Simon loves his wife Julie (they’re both brilliant neurosurgeons in their late 30s (or early 40s) but had a brief affair with Pam who is constantly referred to as ‘Plastic Pam’ because she has fake boobs. All the women In the hospital hate her and all the men secretly want to hang her.

Through some really stupid events in book 7, Pam is blackmailing Simon into sleeping with her again, even though he told his wife it’s over with Pam. He seems to hate himself for going along with the blackmail and he hates Pam yet every time he goes near her, he’s panting like a dog. For someone who is ‘forced’ to have sex with her, he seems to enjoy it a little too much and yet he considers it as ‘taking it for the team’ (yes he actually thinks that he’s protecting his wife from the blackmail and thought to himself that he’s taking one for the team). I was done with this H.

The heroine has a brief romance with a residency intern even though it’s against policy and could get her fired. Of course, it turns out that this intern and Pam are also sleeping together and they’re plotting to destroy the married couple because they each want one of the doctors for themselves.

Eventually these stupid plans come to light and when the heroine learns that her poor husband had to have sex with Plastic Pam to save her career, she forgives him and they have their HEA. Yeah, I’d give them a year or two before the wandering eyes start again.

Even though Pam was clearly the villain in this ridiculous series, I was annoyed as hell that they kept referring to her as Plastic Pam and no mention of Pam could ever go without mentioning her fake boobs. I get it that she’s ‘evil’ but I can’t get behind shaming a woman (or female character) for choices she makes with her own body. If they mentioned it once or twice when commenting about how she dresses inappropriately for work, it would be one thing. But It kept getting brought up over and over as if her fake boobs had a personality of their own.

Interesting ending to the series.
I’m not sure if I like how it wrapped up but each to their own.

I’d like to have known what Simon and Julie actually work on. It’s not actually spoken about in either of their books what lead to the downfall of their relationship apart from their jobs.

I also don’t like that Eli in both of these last two books “no longer” has a nz accent. In the first novels at least the narrator makes an effort.

The author has done very well in writing such a tricky genre. When theres cheating involved I find it sometimes difficult to read or listen to the story. However the author has handled it in such a delicate way I really enjoyed it. A fantastic performance as well.

For such smart people they are really dumb. This book made me want to reach in and knock the characters upside their heads.

Lots of drama. But the good kind.
