Winter With God 40-Day Devotional: Hope for the Spirit, Strength for the Soul
This 40-day devotional deals as much with God&;s absence as His presence, for it is about the spiritual season of winter&;a time when the light of faith has dimmed and the warmth of love has cooled.
Written with a mystic&;s heart, a scholar&;s mind, and a poet&;s pen, Winter with God is a profound meditation on the opportunities and challenges we face when our relationship with God seems dormant, endangered, or simply one-sided.
Suitable for both longtime pilgrims and the newfound faithful (or faithless), this rich and compelling devotional about winter with God&;a season through which every soul must pass&;shows how the hardest season to experience can also be the most rewarding to endure.
Discover hope for your spirit and strength for your soul.

Hunt creates a daily devotional that provides 40 days of anecdotes, stories and historical accounts that connect to points of struggle for many Christians in their walk with God. Each day includes a devotional thought, prayer and a call to action.

This devotional was just so real and honest, talking about struggles and questions many people have lived through and asked. I think no matter where you are on your faith journey everyone has experienced some kind of winter season. It's good to acknowledge that fact and to sit with God through it, and this book allowed me to do both. My favourite chapter is called "The Wrong Question"- I still think about it often. The author reminds me that I must not ask "Does Jesus love me?" Of course he does! He has already shown it. Instead I must ask, "How can I show my love for Him and respond to his love uniquely, as the person he created me to be?"

The year of 2017 in British Columbia began with an unusually snowy winter. T.W.S. Hunt's "Winter With God" was a perfect companion to the first 40 days of the year, many of which began snowed in with a cup of coffee in the living room. I had the privilege of meeting Tom in undergraduate studies at Trinity Western University, and through this friendship I've been introduced to new realms of Christian life and thought in both his own writing and those he introduced me to, such as Thomas à Kempis' "The Imitation of Christ". Each morning with this book felt like a conversation with Tom as he integrated wisdom from great Christian thinkers into his own lessons on the winter of the soul. I was blessed by the challenges and encouragements found in his words through my own winter.
