Next Episode follows a cast of reality-television ghost Troy, Rachel, Ben, Jasmine, Paolo and Dylan, better known as the Haunting team. Their lives are unusual – one day they may be VIPs at a fan convention, answering questions about the show; the next, they're filming on location, waiting for the knocks, shadows, cold spots or energy spikes their viewers love and the network expects. Ben relies on technology, while Rachel follows her intuition. Jasmine is fearless, and Troy keeps everyone calm. Dylan, just voted onto the team, is delighted with her new career but can't quite figure out why the unfriendly archivist, Paolo, comes on location with them … until she discovers what the audience will never see. Between their workday encounters with the unexplained and uncanny, the OpHaunt team face network demands and personal trials. Famed for showing the supernatural to the public, the teammates are themselves haunted by the secrets they live with, and must keep, off-camera.

I couldn't put this book down and read it in one sitting. I would not classify this book as "paranormal" or "science fiction." Instead, it is an extremely well-written collection of short stories that introduce the readers to the key characters, exploring their relationships with each other and themselves. This is a book that cries out for a sequel!

I have to say -- I just love Next Episode! It's been a while since I've read something with a supernatural plot, and what I really loved about Next Episode was the well-written dialogue and B.D. Ferguson's great way of portraying the characters. Ferguson is really in control of her way of writing, which is a joy for me, as an adult reader of the supernatural!
Next Episode has seven different episode and with each new episode, we get a new main character. However; each of these characters is so well written and really stand out for themselves that I was sucked into the story, and just wanted to know and learn more! I read Next Episode over three days -- although I have to say -- I just wanted to sit down and EAT the book! Instead, I tried to slow down and enjoy it -- which I can only recommend -- especially on a dark winter evening...
