Tattooed skin, pierced skin, this book explains and shows the connections between the tribes of yesterday and today. Complemented by more than 150 stunning photos, an informative text takes us from the Maoris to city youths, via the Papillion-style convicts of Cayenne, to moustached Harley bikers, not forgetting the school teacher who has a discreet tattoo on her left shoulder, visible under a backless dress.
The photography and tattoo artwork in this book are magnificent and inspirational. I don't think I ever want to volunteer to have needles pierce my skin, but the cover picture of the wings almost persuades me.
