After six years of war and upheaval during the Second World War, parts of Europe were also in turmoil in the years that followed. After a career in pharmaceuticals, moving into management and then pharmaceutical education, and professional development., I undertook a History degree, subsequently undertaking a Local History Diploma & Family History to Community History Diploma.
I am a genealogist and family historian, with a mix of British & Sicilian heritage. I am a tutor for Pharos Tutors, teaching all the surname courses, and researching in Continental Europe. I write for a variety of genealogical magazines, for which I have received awards. I have written several courses, a Surnames Guide.
I have also presented & lectured globally either in person or electronically, including, amongst others, Who Do You Think You Are? Live, the Society of Genealogists, Society of Australian Genealogists, Wisconsin State Genealogical Society, Legacy webinars.
In 2019 Julie was awarded from the Guild of One-Name Studies the Master Craftsman Award in recognition of her significant contribution to the running of the Guild or an excellence in One-Name Studies.
In 2019 Julie was awarded, from the Society of Genealogists, the Certificate of Recognition for exceptional services to genealogy and one-name studies, promoting methodology, aims, processes and strategies.
