Love Outraged is a guide book for those who are disenchanted by the limitations of more superficial approaches to emotional and spiritual development. Rather than bypassing our character faults and inner conflicts by simply using positive intention, affirmations, and visualizations, Dr. Sollars provides a depth psychological model of spiritual transformation aimed at changing our very darkness and shadow elements within to positive outgoing emanations of expression from the core of our being. Sollars takes us on a Dante-like adventure from the depth of our souls to finally discover the way back through darkness and the liberation of our positive, loving, and ecstatic qualities of the soul. Love Outraged's depth approach to transformation offers numerous specific techniques, practices, meditations, Q's and A's, and real case examples that illuminate the path to the liberation of that which is most loving, ecstatic, healing, and sacred within us - Our Core Self.
Love Outraged is a very insightful book that teaches the lay-person about psychology; and challenges the beliefs of the practicing psychologist. From time-to-time, I was caught up trying to gain a deeper understanding of some concepts - only to find out that there's a handy glossary at the end of the book (that's the trouble with being a reader who starts at the beginning and reads straight through without flipping around first). Regardless, the explanations, examples and case studies are very interesting and informative. More than once, I found myself evaluating my role in relationships - actions, reactions, feelings, thoughts and words - and understanding my actions, actions of others and how I could improve my own actions. I definitely recommend this book to anyone who is even slightly interested in psychology, and moreover recommend to any person wanting to improve their own relationships - from cursory to deep.
Disclosure: I was able to read an advanced copy of the book as I am working with Dr. Sollars on publicity.
I really enjoyed reading Love Outraged. I found that it was well-written and the author, Dr. Sollars was able to easily articulate concepts in a way that anyone could understand and follow along. As a psychotherapist, I would recommend this book to my colleagues and clients.
