'Radar Road' is the relatable collection of short stories and poems which have been written by Nath Jones whereas the editor Morgan Kigar has done the commendable job of selecting and arranging these very well- written stories and poems.

Nath Jones's writing style can make readers think as they are rather reading someone's personal journal. Readers may find little or more than a little glimpse of themselves in many of the characters' mundane situations and daily living scenarios. I love the way the writer has instigated this deep and quite realistic thought as how we human just as when our physical bodies tend to move towards decimation and all of our bodily functions fail to keep themselves in order is when we start to look and try to put other things in our use in order so we should feel some kind of ordinariness and should feel less strange in our own bodies and in our own surroundings. In one of the stories, she presented this notion so beautifully of how sometimes a child gives such deep  respect  and thought to something so important which belongs to a country but which are neglected by the us adults.

She has set the tone of the book in the light of modern twenty- first century norms and how the contemporary people use language or think or do certain activities on their impulse.

I love how the writer has tried hard to make the readers realize that when there  a time comes to save someone's life on one hand and on the other hand we have a hidden truth for which we keep thinking about the consequences and costs if we choose to tell and in the process the time is slipping like a sand; we keep wasting the time and when suddenly the person leaves the world is when we'll get to have all the answers to our questions about how and when should we have told the truth we were hiding at the time. Meaning, saving life tends to be meant more than hiding a truth and wasting time in thinking about the consequences. These are some of the strongest highlights of the books.

However, some stories were quite bland to my test as I felt I have rather missed something in them.

Two of my most favourite stories are 'Pieta' and 'Should: Mommy ate her soul' as they are of female centric nature.

Unarguably, this book is what I thoroughly enjoyed and is indeed unputdownable. As well as, it gives the clear glimpse of the contemporary American society.

Radar Road,The best on impluse us a collection of short stories and poems. It contains stories about our everyday life and characters from our routine.
Each story has unique characters and storyline. Although the plot and characters of each story were different but I found them very relatable.🙌🏻
The language was a little tough for me,like I had to concentrate a bit more than normally for better understanding. Otherwise it was a good read

Sum mary:

🍁 It's an anthology of short, thoughtful, and insightful stories. The stories are witty and profoundly resonate with our lives. The stories roam around family, friends, community, generation, childhood memory, and traditions that evoke the emotions of the reader. The book describes all the feelings connected with our loved ones. This book features short stories that range from loneliness, grief, and fear to love, care, morality, and friendship. It's a heart-touching anthology that elicits many emotions.

My Review:

🍂 The cover is so eye-soothing and perfectly inclined with the title.
🍂The stories are short, touching, heartwarming, and thoughtful.
🍂The author explored the feelings of Melancholy, sorrow, and love.
🍂This anthology has unique stories but has a constant element that is "Death" but when there's death there's the whir of life too.
🍂The stories are tightly written, pacy, straightforward, simple, and well structured.
🍂I like the story of a woman who cradles her dying son. That's bleak and warm both.
🍂The author paints a vivid picture of human behavior through exploring different emotions.
🍂"Character Sketch, 1997, the story seems so relatable to me as someone wrote my story, lol. And I truly love this story and yes! it's going to be close to my heart for a long time.
🍂 The stories are so engaging that you may feel that you're a part of the stories.
🍂I love the way the author penned down the feeling of grief, happiness, companionship, loneliness, and love.

"Some things are not worth fighting for. Sometimes, on days like this, one must simply assess the situation and resolve to walk away."

Radar Road is a collection of short stories. Writer has penned down some very different stories on many topics. We read stories about family relationships, sacrificial nature of parents, nostalgia for past, respecting one's flag, how children can be alone, how following certain traditions can give birth to complications in your life and why one should never care about them, bitter realizations life gifts us, guilt, grief, how when things aren't done on time you're left with regrets, responsibilities and comprehending emotional needs of your loved ones, how people who don't have any blood relations with you can be more kind than your family, friendship, vengeance etc.

What I liked most was how characters were unique. They had this special individuality of their own. Sometimes writers construct good stories but their characters are bland. Here characters were built skilfully. Stories were unpredictable and many of them had open endings. Writer didn't tell explicitly what happened and she left some things to our imagination. This was a smart way of writer which can be intriguing 😄

I adored this dialogue of Mr. Hollace Dupree so much:
"One might cheat at cards and board games, not in relationships. Relationships are business. Negotiation and respect. Always took it as serious business."

Thank you @mbooktours and @nathjones for giving me opportunity to be a part of this tour.

Radar Road is a collection of short stories that have neither a beginning nor an end, yet they're so complete. The stories don't contain any former explanation of the characters or the present occurrences but the tales are absolute and captivating. Once you begin to read, it's difficult to stop cause of the startling relatability of the characters to real life. All stories have different settings, characters and proffer valid and distinct affinity.

What I love about the writing style of the author is, it's nearly impossible to differentiate whether this is a book or somebody's personal journal. The present tense use, non-fictional circumstances and narration of natural and realistic feelings made it more engrossing. There are several credible morals to extract from the stories as well.

I loved all the stories. The authentic form of writing made the stories seem so pragmatic and intimate.
The way you can relate to the characters one way or another, short format and appealing way of narration and tales enforced me to give this a 5 star rating. At some point it was a little hard to grasp the meaning cause of the formation of sentence structure. Otherwise, it was wonderful!

I would definitely recommend others to read this as well. It's a peculiar book than common novels and I'm sure you'll enjoy reading it!

Nath Jones crafts a poignant and visually striking collection in "Radar Road, The Best of On Impulse", blending short stories and poetry to evoke deep emotions. The book cover itself sets the tone for an introspective journey, hinting at the intense emotions woven into its pages.

What makes this collection stand out is its ability to stir emotions not only through words but also through its artistic presentation. The stories and poems explore a spectrum of human experiences—love, grief, contentment, regret, and hope—creating a rich emotional tapestry.

Stories like *Orderly* capture the warmth of a couple’s structured yet fulfilling life, while *Pieta* delves into parental self-doubt and the complexities of acceptance. Throughout the book, themes of resilience and hope emerge, reminding readers of the strength found in perseverance.

While the book succeeds in immersing readers in emotional depth, some stories may resonate more than others, and a few narratives feel slightly abstract, making them harder to connect with. Nonetheless, Nath Jones’ storytelling is powerful, making this a compelling read for those who appreciate emotionally charged literature.

For readers who seek stories that resonate on a deep, personal level, *Radar Road* is a worthwhile read, offering moments of reflection and connection with the complexities of human emotions.

A carefully curated collection of diverse yet relatable short stories that depict our real life problems while leaving us wanting for more.

Ms. Jones has carefully weaved various short stories about varying topics in such an effortless manner that it is almost poetic. How she takes us from one fictional world to another while keeping the essence of relatability alive is just marvelous.
Although she will leave you hanging at the end of some stories with her cliffhanger, she knows what she's doing with her characters. And who gets closure in life, anyway?

She has penned down characters that are raw and human, so everyone can relate to them in a way or another. Each story has a different plot, characters, and storyline, which means they all standalone successfully. However, if you analyze the entire collection, you will find similarities in the entire narrative.

Her use of language is very creative, setting the tone of the book to be very modern and contemporary. But you will feel as if you're reading someone's journal at some points.

My favorite quote was:
"One might cheat at cards and boardgames, not in relationships. Relationships are business."

In the On Impulse series readers are invited to contemplate how we use language. In this collection by Nath Jones, Morgan Kiger has selected thoughtful and witty stories that have a sense of the familiar and the unusual.

With any collection of short stories, it’s rare for readers to love every single one, and so it is (in my case, at least) with this assortment by Nath Jones. Her writing is often witty and sharp, her storytelling skills raise her way above the ordinary, and she has that unerring ability to create a feeling of having been somewhere before that haunts us like half-forgotten memories. Even so, some of these tales left me wondering what happens next (annoying and exciting in equal parts) and I do wonder if a couple of them might spawn a novel at some point. In ‘Pieta’ and ‘Should: How Mommy Ate Her Soul she creates female characters who are fascinating, tortured and utterly compelling, while in others, I felt as if I’d missed something important.

All in all, a very thoughtful and clever collection which promises great things for the future.

🌻This is one thing that’s not an illusion, an expectation, a hope, a change, a delusion, a hallucination, a must-have-remembered-it-wrong embarrassed moment, a confusion, a frustration, a trust, an unknowing, a worry, a panic, a thought-so-but-no. It’s real. - Nath Jones

🌻 If I can use one word to describe this book that would be “different”. Yup this book was quite different from what I normally read. It’s a collection of short stories by Nath Jones compiled and arranged by Morgan Sorvillo kiger. Though it was different but the stories and the characters were quite familiar and they will make you ponder when and where you have met them before.

🌻 Whether it’s the jobless husband or the man carrying out his family traditions, the tired working mother or the woman cradling her dead son, the new young wife or the girl trying to prove something, you will be able to resonate and connect to all those characters and situations.

🌻 The book was an easy and an entertaining read which can be finished easily in one setting unless you wanna enjoy each story individually. The only thing I felt was that some of the stories were short and I wanted more of them while some of the stories seem too dragged. But that’s my own personal opinion. My favourite story was “the sandwich.” 🥪 I never wanted it to end.

🌻 Thanks to the author for sending the ebook my way.

How do we define life? Perhaps, the amalgamation of different emotions. of despair & sorrow, of abandonment by loved ones. of torn bonds and bitter relationships, of the desires never addressed....
This is how we perceive life, always in a derogatory sense.
The book, Radar Road captures the essence of life, by drawing bits and pieces from the lives of distinct characters, exemplifying different emotions. The stories oscillate between bitter-sweet memories of childhood and old age.
.....🦋🍁.....
The writing style is apt for a reader of the twenty-first century. Concise & straightforward. However, those who dwell in classics might find it superficial. All in all, it is mostly written in prose with an exception of two stories that follows the structure of a poem, yet prosaic in dcition.
....🦋🍁.....
A fast-paced read, requiring a little time, while delivering a thought-provoking narrative.

🍁"Haven't you begun to believe
in the twisting fate of this wet
world? Always between building
up, breaking free, and starting
again. That's love swim, you know,
you and me beginning."

Radar Road is basically a collection of short stories that is really interesting read and The COVER is so soothing.

The book is written in an elegant way that attracts the reader's attention!! The stories are really relatable. The thing I love the most is that this book contain all the spices whether it's love, hope, hate, regret, sadness, friendship and hard reality of death.

I reallyy like the little details in the stories, that "62 years old lady celebrating her wedding anniversary" that " a mother who isn't as much courageous as she should be" "the wife who has to look after everything on herself" All this was written so so beautifully.

I enjoyed reading all stories but "PIETA" and "SMILE" were my favourite.

This book consisted of melancholic short stories & poetry. The stories in this book can be best described as haunting, the one which captures your mind. The author has a very raw talent of setting up atmosphere in such a few words, with each new story comes a new set of emotions, characters & atmospheric settings and the author nailed each & every story with brilliance. Each and every protagonists were fleshed out, we could experience their thoughts through this book. Author's writing skills are brilliant, even if some stories were hard for me to understand at first, they still kept me intrigued. My favorites are: Hollace and Some Girl, Norma L, Should: How Mommy ate her Soul and so many more. Some of them left me wanting more and I wish I could get a whole novel for those ones. This collection was something very unique to read.

The stories were mind numbing, exciting, thrilling and sad. This is a book for you if you love broad variety of stories.

This book is a collection of short stories by Nath Jones each telling a different tale with different emotions of love, grief, care, and morals about family, friends, childhood, society, traditions. Although I didn’t understand some of the stories, I must say she has delivered many valuable lessons and emotions with her brief, simple and to the point stories. Stories are fast paced, you can read the whole book in max: two sittings.
The other aspect I liked the most is how you’ll find every story relatable in some way, these stories are not just about the characters she wrote but about you, me and everyone.

Thank you @mbooktours & @nath.jones for sending me an E-book of this lovely book.

A blend of poetry and short stories. They portray small parts of lives, a simple day, a normal incident but what I loved was that every short story left you with a subtle message. The writing style was simple yet with melancholic undertone which I absolutely loved. My favourite short story was "Pieta" about a drunk son and his parents. It is told from the mother's point of view who is burdened with the guilt regarding her relationship with her son and is too late to fix things with him because he gets into an accident and passes away. It made me realise how important it is to face and resolve difficulties with close ones before it's too late.
In a similar every chapter in this book left a lasting impression and I definitely recommend it.

This book offers the readers a broad variety of independent short stories.

With Radar Road, Nath Jones has created an interesting collection of short stories, all varying in length and mood. It is a quite entertaining read - each story let me watch the protagonists through a window. The protagonists are normal and of sufficient depth and their situations often seem familiar. Nath Jones lets you take part in her characters' lives from a short distance - as if through a camera lens.

This is a book for you if you like a broad variety of short stories. It is the ideal read for your coffee breaks.

This book contains short stories which an author writes from in daily life. These are short but it deals with every human emotion like sorrow, fear, agony, happiness, sympathy. Most stories are relatable and at some point, you can relate to. These are not very much detailed but written to the point, that's good that it doesn't bore a reader. It contains 23 short stories but all are fast-paced which you can read in 1 to two sittings...

The emotion of the mother that is described in Pieta caught my attention and I like the most in this... Overall it was a good and fast-paced read for me.

a collection of short stories that could stand on their own. The characters are fascinating and distinct from one another. The author's writing style is eloquent, and I was never bored. the writing is lyrical (you might know I love lyrical writing) I admired the stories and their uniqueness.
These short stories drew my attention to the type of speech used. What I like best about the author's story is how she writes about the mundane lives of her characters, and I found myself relating to them.

Radar Road is a vibrant short story and poem collection. "Norma L." and "Hollace and Some Girl" are absolute must reads. In these two stories in particular, the characterization and atmospherics transcend the mundane details of the lives of the characters into something deeply resonate. If you are a fan of contemporary American short fiction, this is an essential purchase.
