Solid information about a diverse continent with eye-catching illustrations. The book is a flimsy paperback, so not great for anything other than classroom use.

This is another well crafted book that introduces young readers to the concept of mapping by topic or subject. In 32 pages it introduces them to the location of North America, including how the one original continent separated 30-60 million years ago. Subsequent sections show what things looked like before Columbus, who got what land areas, the states (including statistics on things like what ones get the most tornadoes), representative wildlife in different parts of North America and natural and man-made landmarks. Following that is a segment on settlements that includes a map color coded for population density as well as facts about current and historical settlements. Industries by region as well as sports by the same are followed by culture and finally a section on food and drink.
All in all, this book packs a lot of interesting information in and around specialty maps. It’s a book that will grab the attention of many a curious youngster.
