Charmingly written and illustrated book on the creation of orange carrots. Mateya Arkova's dreamy illustrations pair with a sweet story about two sisters quest to honor their king. They decide to cross pollinate seedlings of yellow and purple carrots creating a new color celebrating William of Orange's victories. We learn that carrots come from Afghanistan and were in a less sweet variety. The girls are successful and the king's son is pleased with the outcome. Delightful story!
