Investigations in Physical Science

Rate this book
This manual has been written with the realization that laboratory work in physical science courses varies more from school to school than does, say general chemistry and general physics. An assumption behind the manual is that most physical science students have little previous laboratory experience and are not ready for "open-ended" type experiements, nor should they be subjected to quite as many "frustrations" as are common in laboratory work for science majors. If the students using this manual prepare well, follow the instructions, and think about what they are doing, their lab work should go smoothly, they should learn a good deal, and they should be safe.

Let me stress my desire for constructive criticism from you. The motive behind this manual is service. Feedback from the instructors who use this manual is earnestly sought. I need to know both what you consider well done, as well as what you think needs additional work. Although I have been teaching labs for 32 years, there is still a lot to be learned. Nobody is an expert in all the fields of physical science, and we need to help each other.
