Gave me insight into holy practices and religious terminology over the Tudor period with a clear distinction between the beliefs of Catholics and Protestants and even subdivisions of Protestants, and outlined the changes that came under each monarch.

Obviously this book only focused on England, as mentioned in the title, but I wish it had included Ireland as well, or that I had picked up a book that also had a focus on Irish religion. Besides that, it covered many regions within England itself and how unrest or compliancy was revealed in different places.

Would recommend to anyone interested in getting a better gauge on how the English population responded and adapted to the Reformation and other changes (though I was surprised that there wasn't a more explicit focus on rebellions).

A elaborate survey of the spiritual and cultural attitudes in Tudor England that succeeds at reconciling reconciling the Roman with the reformed religion.

Four million English men and women are shown to have lived through so many unnecessary trends as a consequence of actions of successive governments.
