Sometimes you get a wild hair up your ass and you want to understand the belief system of a random people. For me this week, it was the Sikhs. Who are these guys? Why do they wear those awesome swords? What does the Adi Granth have to say on the subject of widow immolation?
This book answers it all and then some. A little heavier on the analysis of the actual belief system and scripture, and a little too light for me on the history bits, but that's okay. Coming into an understanding of something that you know nothing about can be fun, so I was able to overlook those flaws. There's tons here on the Ten Gurus, the five Ks and the place of Sikhs in South Asian history.
