Code War

Rate this book
Val Bowman is living large one spring morning as he drives to tell the team of code slingers he fronts for that the intelligent search engine they are finishing will earn them all obscene money as soon as they ship the program.

One problem—someone has planted a bomb in his briefcase that nearly shreds them to atoms but for sheer luck. They clearly need protection.

Sticks Kellner, former government assassin and one-woman wrecking crew, works for the heavy-handed security firm that catches the job. Sticks is fair, but firm. When evidence points to Val, she must decide if he's a vicious turncoat or trust her instincts that he’s the victim of a frame job. Be-cause she refuses to railroad him, she comes under suspicion herself and goes rogue to seek justice.

Cat becomes mouse in this fast-paced thriller. The gender roles are reversed: he’s a pretty-boy charmer (“He can talk his way out of a head cold.”). She’s the distant, deadly warrior (her nickname “Sticks” was originally bestowed as a homonym referring to the mythological underground river across which she's sent so many people).

The coders wreak their own nerdy form of havoc. Ruthless heavies and a world-weary ATF agent round out the cast of striking characters. You have never read a story quite like this one.

Adult language and scenes do appear, so discretion toward those of tender years or sensibilities is advised.

About a week ago a girl named Chelsea Adkins emailed me and asked if I would read
a book and put a review on Goodreads. The book is called Code War and it was written
by Richard Givan. Once I saw how the book was written each chapter has one of the characters
from the book listed and all you have to do is follow the characters and the book falls
into place. I thought it started a little slow but it did pick up.One of the beginning chapters
is called Val and he is a lawyer. This chapter is from when Val is very young and I didn't
think that it was really needed. Other than that the book held my interest all through out
which it is supposed to do. The story was good and the characters were well presented.
Chelsea I liked the book and I hope that I helped you a little bit. I gave it a 4.
