This book is my favorite villainess novel. I'd rate it a million stars if I could.

Kenkyo, Kenjitsu o Motto ni Ikite Orimasu is a hilarious and endearing read. At first, I was turned off of it because I thought it was another typical reverse-harem novel with a genius reincarnated main character, but that isn't the case here.

Kenkyo, Kenjitsu o Motto ni Ikite Orimasu with our main character, Kisshouin Reika. At the age of five, Reika wakes up and realizes that she has reincarnated into a shoujo manga called: [You Are My Dolce]. Not only that, she also realizes that she is the villainess of the story. The bossy, idiotic, unreasonable, classical rich girl type villainess. The one that does whatever she can to break apart the male and female lead.

So, not wanting to seek ruin, Reika decides to do whatever she can to avoid the male and female leads. Thus, begins her daily life of saving up her huge pocket money, while constantly and hilariously reminding her family to not do bad things.

Reika isn't your typical reincarnated genius protagonist, either. She's a girl who, for some reason, can't remember her old life's studies. So instead, she actually has to work hard to get into her school's test rankings, (unlike those genius mentally 30 years old protagonists). But even then, she still hovers between the top 15 to top 50s of her school's test rankings.

And unlike other typical reincarnated villainess stories, Kenkyo Kenjitsu has so much character depth. Literally, like, there's a hidden side to many of the characters.

The "emperor" of the school? The cool and dignified one that everyone admires? The heir of an enormous business?

No, in reality, Kaburagi Masaya is just a funny and lovesick stalking horse.

The angel beloved by everyone? The friendly "prince" that everyone loves and wants to talk with?

No, in reality, Enjou Shuusuke is a two-faced devil that you'd never want to owe a favor to.

And finally, the domineering queen bee of the school? One that literally looks like a living princess? "One word and she can wipe you off of society."

Haha, heck no! Our protagonist, Kisshouin Reika-sama, is a total softie on the inside. Psst, did you know that you can bribe her with 10yen snacks?

And so, Kenkyo, Kenjitsu o Motto ni Ikite Orimasu is a simply fun and endearing read. While reading this novel, you will accompany Reika-sama from the tender age of five and into her final year of high-school, as she searches for one thing: love. When finishing reading Kenkyo Kenjitsu, you will also discover two things:

1. People only show the parts of themselves that they want to, to you. Like, take Enjou Shuusuke as an example. He's an angel on the outside and a devil on the inside.

2. There is no chapter 300! Kenyko Kenjitsu has been on hiatus for basically two years! I know, I know, you'll be very disappointed, but it's alright. For now, Reika-sama will be forever stuck as the chief of her "forever alone" village.

1000000 stars for this book. I'll be waiting for chapter 300 and your long awaited uniform date, Reika-sama!

I super enjoyed reading this. This is my first Japanese translated novel ever. And I was pleasantly surprised that Japanese novels were this good. The storytelling is genius. There are currently 299 chapters, and then the author went on hiatus. But I'm definitely waiting with bated breath for chapter 300 to come out.

The main character is reincarnated into the body of Reika, one of the villainous characters in a shoujo manga. In order to navigate life peacefully, she decides to stay away from the leads of the shoujo manga, and not be a villain. What follows is a fun, light, slice of life of Reika's daily activities from primary school to middle school to high school. Character development junkies like me will like this.

I really liked the light humor in this novel. Reika is an unreliable narrator, which makes things really interesting and fun to read. It kinda reminds me a bit of Yuri on Ice, in which the main character sees himself differently from the people around him. The romance in this novel is a super slow, almost non-existent burn, unless you know how to spot the little hints here and there. I just love how this story is being told. Another great aspect of this novel is the food. Reika loves eating so much. I couldn't help but want to eat all the food mentioned in the novel too.

After I finished the 299th chapter, I couldn't help but re-read my favorite chapters right away. It's just so light and cute and exactly what I needed. This one's definitely a keeper.

Translation quality is excellent. Read this at: https://oniichanyamete.moe/index/kenk...

Perhaps my favourite Japanese web novel. The novel follows the life of the protagonist after she reincarnates as Kisshouin Reika, the villainess of a popular manga series in her previous life.

Unlike other novels in this genre, however, there is much less focus on fantasy, besides reincarnation, nor is there any significant overarching plot. Instead, the novel revolves around Reika’s unique quirks, her various friends and family, and their humorous interactions. As such, small subplots and character relationships develop organically.

The setting is primarily those of Reika’s luxurious prep school and the highest echelons of Japanese society. These are interesting in themselves, but are described in great, but concise, detail. The author clearly knows what he or she is writing about. For instance, the association of characters with specific musical works.

There are great translations available, so I would not hesitate to recommend this novel to anyone looking to read something fun.

I love Reika-sama!
She was so adorable.
I like how she interacts with her family. The father who yearns for the daughter's attention. The overprotective brother. The mother who brings Reika to diet spa resort.
I like how Reika plays cute songs on her piano, enrolling into tuition class just to sneeks out to buy snacks, and getting fat from overeating.
Haha she was just way too cute.

I can't believe I'm writing this about a self published web novel, but Kenkyo, Kenjitsu o Motto ni Ikite Orimasu is one of the best young adult novels I've read in a while. The story follows Kisshouin Reika from the beginning of primary school until her third year of high school, a girl who has been reincarnated as the villainess of a popular shoujo manga series called, Kimi wa Boku no dolce (You Are My Dolce). At the end of the series Reika's life is in ruins due to her scheming to take down the female protagonist and get the male lead, so reincarnated Reika is determined to avoid the pitfalls that leads to her demise in the manga, while also looking for (and mostly failing at) love. This is the novel that originated the Villainess Otome Isekai genre of light novels and manga.

The situations that Reika finds herself in based on circumstances both inside and outside of her control, are hilarious. She's a very relatable character, often unintentionally funny (intentional by the author but not the character), and so likable. All of the characters are well written, and I love the twists the author takes on many of the popular character tropes found in manga and anime. The characters, both main and tertiary, are well written, and I'm very invested in the story, the characters, the friendships, and the romances. It's an absolute tragedy that the author didn't finish the web novel. The last chapter was published in 2017 so there's no real hope of it ever continuing. Readers should be aware of that going in, though I think the experience of reading it is absolutely worth it.

I, unfortunately, do not read Japanese well enough to read it in its original language, but there are two English translations, one found on a personal blog here, which only covers 240 of the 299 chapters, and another posted here on Fanfiction.net, which has translated all 299 chapters. I mention both because the incomplete translation, for me, was the more enjoyable read. The Fanfiction.net version, which I am thankful for because the translator put in a lot of time and effort, and because it's the only way to read the remaining 58 chapters, is also very good, and if it were the only version I'd wholeheartedly recommend reading it, but because it's a more literal translation, it doesn't quite flow as well as the other translation. I believe the incomplete translation is more true to the tone and pacing of the source material. It also has textual notes, pictures, and links, which the Fanfiction.com version doesn't have, and it uses rich text rather than plain text so you get italics and some more fancy styling. There were also more proofreaders for the incomplete translation so there are fewer grammatical errors, typos, and misspellings.

I loved every minute of reading Kenkyo, Kenjitsu. I wish the author would come back and finish it. I'd even like to read the You Are My Dolce manga that the reincarnated world is based off of. I highly recommend it to readers of young adult fiction, shoujo manga, and shoujo light novels.

the entire story is basically an internal monologue with nothing happening so as you would expect it was rather boring with next to no charachters at all since its just the mc talking all the time about unintersting stuff
