Three months have passed since the lodge was destroyed, and in that three months the survivors have baked in the abnormal heat of the sun. It has not rained in all that time, and every tree on the planet is dying. The sky is a stranger to the survivors, and each day brings them closer to the time when the planet's oxygen supply will vanish. Unknown to them, the ozone layer has disappeared momentarily, and in this horrific period of unprotected time, the whole world goes mad. The unfortunate beings that do not immediately die are driven insane, reverting to primal, animalistic urges. The beings responsible for the disappearance have returned the ozone layer to its rightful place, but it is no longer pure. Alien gases are intertwined throughout the wayward layer, and these gases threaten to annihilate that part of mankind who have escaped with their brains intact. Two months after this unique incident, a man wakes from a coma, only to find himself totally alone in a large medical complex. He is disoriented and unable to walk, but his mind harbors the secret to the world's salvation. He is the only human being left on earth capable of saving mankind from total extinction!
