A Dream in Red Mansions, originally known as the Story of the Stone is written by Cao Xueqin, and it is one of the four ancient classics in China. Because of the social environment and handwritten copy spreading, only 80 chapters are kept and there are a large number of editions. In the popular edition with the last 40 chapters written by Gao E (or Anonym), Cao Xueqin's original ideas have been distorted greatly and the ancient version has also been modified, especially the end where Family Jia was falling without doubt, but it was reviving in the continued version. The book is a great work with high ideology and artistic quality. 紅楼夢我讀了四次。第一次讀是二十多歲時,當愛情小說看,覺得林黛玉不那么可愛,不太喜欢。第二次讀是四十多歲,看到中国傳統的人情世故,看得深入了一些。總体覺得也蛮喜欢。第三次讀是一年前,讀之前看過一些評論,才知道原來之前只看到這書的皮毛。這一次看到賈宝玉性格的纯粹和後來的覺悟。當然還有欣賞它的詩詞、服飾、飲食、礼儀等等,內容非常丰富。人物性格分明,描寫非常真實。故事開始講述的神瑛侍者無才補青天,到後來黛玉的還淚,作者都是非常有創意的。神話之後又有現實社会、官場的黑暗,加上大家庭的複習關係。覺得這真是一本讀不完的書。讀完第三次馬上再讀第四次。以後還會再讀的。
