A doll that cries all night. A painting that causes fires to break out. Around the world, reports of haunted objects fascinate and terrify people. Can items truly be haunted?
This was an interesting, if somewhat generalized book. It discussed many different types of objects from dolls, to clothes to furniture. In many cases though, specific hauntings were not mentioned.
Two hauntings that were, were chairs in Belcourt Castle in Rhode Island. They were said to give off a great chill to anyone who sat in them. Also, a famous mirror at the Myrtles Plantation, that is said to have spirits trapped within it.
The illustrations were a mix of photographs and art depicting the haunting situations. Those were really well done.
In addition to the chapters, the book also contained information on what Studying the Paranormal meant, a glossary, websites, an index and Reader's questions.
There is a doll that is mentioned, named Mandy, that is kept in glass case at Quesnel &District Museum in Canada that I wonder if it inspired the book Doll Bones by Holly Black because the doll in that one I think was kept in a glass case and the kids did not dare touch it.
