As with all Insight Guides, we bought this book prior to our recent trip to the South of France, and as with other travel guides by this company it was really good.
The history of Provance is very varied, and the explanation of this within this guide really help to appreciate the surroundings you find yourself in. The guide is clear, and provides lots of little gems to visit which are off the beaten track and not listed in other guides. The region is vast, and so we have only visited those places which were close to our accomodation. However, now knowing that I like the region I will use this guide for inspiration as to where to visit next, and will plan another trip around it. The only disappointment is that the restaurant suggestions are not more extensive and imformative as this is an area of great food, much of which has been missed here, but overall a really useful read for anyone thiking of travelling to this region.
