THE "MIDNIGHT CALL" LEADER SUMMARIZES MANY ISSUES
Arno Froese is the Executive Director of Midnight Call Ministry and editor of its monthly magazine, Midnight Call; he has sponsored many international conferences on biblical prophecy. He has also written/edited books such as 'Toward the 7th Millennium: A Penetrating Look into the Future,' 'The Coming Digital God,' 'Preparing for the Mark of the Beast,' 'Daniel's Prophecies Made Easy,' 'The Great Mystery of the Rapture,' etc.
He wrote in the first chapter of this 1997 book, "When people ask me, 'Why should we study the future?' I usually give them about three or four answers. First of all... God is saying [Isa 45:11] that it is a good things to ask Him about the future. Second... we are told [Rev 1:1] that knowing the future is God's intention for us. The third answer is common sense. It is part of human nature to want to know as much as possible about the future so we can be prepared for it." (Pg. 10)
He points out, however, that "Articles appeared in Christian publications alleging that the stones for the temple were cut and ready to be shipped to Israel at any given time. Reportedly, the temple stones were cut in a rock quarry in Bedford, Indiana. After some research, the story was found to be a rumor." (Pg. 40) He adds, "another story proclaimed there was a giant 2-story computer, capable of storing information on every person on the face of the Earth. The computer was affectionately called 'the Beast.' This rumor was reported back in the 70's when Europe was five to ten years behind America in computer technology. This story, too, was later exposed as a hoax." (Pg. 42)
He says, "I will not go into detail here, but it is enough to say that Israel, according to Ezekiel chapter 36, will come back in unbelief, the land that once was a desert will be productive again, and the dispersed shall return and be multiplied in the land of Israel." (Pg. 40) He states, "Ultimately, the ecumenical movement, the World Council of Churches, the United Nations and whoever else she may be involved in the work toward unity, will finally have merged into one powerful religion." (Pg. 84)
Of Rev 18, he says, "To qualify for this horrible title, 'Mystery Babylon,' this city must not only have shed the blood of the martyrs of Jesus, be located on seven hills, and commit political-religious fornication with the leaders of the world, but it must also be seen, when on fire, from the sea. There is no other city of the face of the Earth that fits the four-fold criteria mentioned. Only Rome qualifies." (Pg. 102)
He observes, "It is our understanding... that the ten horns---which are ten kings, mentioned in Revelation 17:12---are not representative of ten European nations, but rather ten different power structures." (Pg. 106) He asserts, "the (1991) military conflict with Iraq was economically motivated. Surely we can't believe that the United States and Canada, for example, went to the Gulf to liberate poor oppressed Kuwaitis. If we believe that, we are likely to believe any fairy tale." (Pg. 152)
He notes, "There is an interpretation that says these things were fulfilled when the second temple was destroyed by the Romans in A.D. 70. This is incorrect. When Jesus refers [Mt 24:15] to Daniel's prophecy... He reveals that the existence of a new temple and the sacrificial service must be reinstituted. That has not taken place yet." (Pg. 183)
He adds, "Let me quickly enumerate six major points demonstrating that we are not in the time of the Great Tribulation: The world is not yet united. Mankind is religiously diverse... There is no temple in Jerusalem... Our leaders do not have 'one mind' yet... The Lord has not gathered the nations of the world to the Battle of Armageddon. The Church of Jesus Christ is still present on Earth." (Pg. 244)
Froese's books will be of interest to students of biblical prophecy.
