A representative selection of stories, articles, poems, plays, puzzles, tongue twisters, and illustrations from the first nine issues of The magazine for children
Sadly out-of-print now. Still in my story files is "Little Green Riding Hood" by Gianni Rodari -- which I used very successfully in story time for pre-schoolers. Thank goodness there were TWO performers (so the second performer could cue the kids until they rose to the spirit of the tale).
This is a compilation of some of the pieces pulled from Cricket magazine's first year of publication. I only realized Clifton Fadiman had a role in its creation after reading his daughter's memoir (The Wine-Lover's Daughter). Reading through this made me remember how much I loved getting Cricket magazine as a child and has ensured my daughter will be getting a subscription sooner rather than later.
