An overview of comparative studies by a Polish scholar, Andrzej Hejmej, a professor from Jagiellonian University, Kraków. The work concerns literary comparativism vs cultural comparativism. He discusses the recent trends in the European/American studies in comparativism as well as presenting the historical background of the field. He presents contemporary phenomena such as interdicsiplinary studies, intermediality or reflects upon the feasibility of creating a history of literature(s) in the paradigm of comparative studies.
