Book Two introduces Mana Kirishima, the mysterious transfer student who might be more capable than even Rei and Asuka...and who's definitely more capable when it comes to making moves on Shinji! The four of them will get a chance to show their elders what they can do (and hopefully not kill each other in the process) when Yui takes them all on a field trip to a facility run by her greatest rival from school--to see Japan's newest, nuclear-powered giant robot! What could possibly go wrong?

Oof this really took a turn for the worse. What started as quite a sweet little teen romance has now devolved into pervy fanservice. I don’t mind stories about kids having their first intimate relationships and I think that sort of thing should be explored for a YA audience, but this doesn’t have the nuance to tackle it delicately. You’re basically reading about minors accidentally looking up skirts a lot. Some interesting stuff does happen though - they’ve introduced another transfer student who is entirely new to this series and we even get Jet Alone and hints that the company Yui and Gendo work for are hiding stuff from the kids. I’m still intrigued as to where they’re taking this and if they’ll actually introduce the Evangelions or not, but I feel like they’re spoiling the relationships between the kids by making them go “uh oh I’ve fallen into your boobies and crotch!” a lot.

Actively making my enjoyment of the original show decrease, think this was kinda made for slimeballs, repetitive and weird
