[Same review for first 4 books because...yeah] I got these on Kindle Unlimited because why not, I love shifters and am always on the hunt for a good new series. This was just ok. There’s a clear formula and no real surprises. They all have tortured pasts, they all have BBW heroines and they all have the same rhythm. They also all go down like cotton candy - sweet tasting but melts quickly and forgotten just as quickly.
"Brash Bear" refers to Josh, who meets his mate at his twins wedding. Bella is shy and very reluctant to get involved with a younger man again. Of course trouble from the past rears its ugly head, but this sweet and romantic short provides the perfect HEA.
I enjoyed the read. I did have 2 issues with it. As the story goes Josh and Jax are twins but often when they are described or talking about their past they seem like regular brothers. Josh is older...well by what....2-5 minutes? How could he protect his brother if he was the same age and so young as well? I didnt get that part. Not sure if I just took the words too literal or it was a mistake on the part of the author. Another thing that bothered me a bit was how Bella thought she was sooo much older than Josh. Um she's 35 and he's 26. Its not that big of a gap and correct me if I'm wrong 35 isn't the new 50 cause the way she carries on thats how she made it seem! I was annoyed! Anyways, all that aside I really liked it and Bell was so incredibly shy. I loved how she got a backbone and stood up for herself at the end with her ex-husband. Both Josh and Bella have baggage but it worked out in the end. This seemed a little different than the other 2 books but I still liked it. I really liked Nick and hopefully he can find a mate too!
I really enjoyed reading this book. I loved how jealous Josh was when Nick flirted with Bella. I also liked the insecurities Bella felt over their age difference. That can be a real life issue, but I liked how Bella was able to realize it was a minor detail. I am looking forward to reading more by this author.
Bella has come to town to start over, buying a house and working at the library was why she needed, Josh blames himself for what happened to his mom and brother, seeing Bella and knowing she is his makes him worry. She true to push him away but you can not keep true mates away,
