This book is located in central China and tells the story of a panda trying to find bamboo to eat. The book describes the land of the area and the different animals that can be found in central China. This book is helpful for students learning about the landscape and the animals that are native to this area. It also is useful in learning about the diet of a panda bear.
I'm surprised Bamboo Valley has so few ratings. It's a fantastic narrative that takes you through a number of animals that would live in a bamboo forest. It gives a great, child-friendly view of this natural area while still stuffing the reader with facts. I wish the book were a bit more stylish, but it does a great job as what it purports to do. I checked Bamboo Forest out from the library and it did not come with any accompanying toy or tape, but I don't feel I'm missing anything.
On another note: Why does any book, ever, have fold-out pages? Bamboo Valley has a fold-out at the end, and it's a mess. Every single one fold-out I've ever seen has the edges all bent back and awful in a way that seems impossible to repair. There has to be a better way.
