By the late Texas writer, Larry L. King, author of The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas and other works. King was also one of the great writers Willie Morris added to the Harper's Magazine group in the late 1960s. With a foreword by Edwin Shrake. Drawings by Paul Rigby.
Larry L. King (January 1, 1929 –December 20, 2012) was an American playwright, journalist, and novelist, best remembered for his 1978 Tony Award-nominated play The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, which became a long-running production on Broadway and was later turned into a feature film starring Burt Reynolds, Charles Durning and Dolly Parton.
A great perspective on Texas and America from roughly 1950-1980 (with some of the author's memories of the 1930s-40s). It really highlights how so much of the political fervors haven't really changed but have only taken on new guises for the digital age. Excellent writing, well worth the read.
