An excellent reflection of improvements in dementia care and research that has been achieved in the past decade. Going well beyond the usual recitation of burdens experienced, the chapters emphasize what is known about the daily lives and functioning of persons with dementia. Needed attention is paid to how clinical assessments and treatments can be appropriately standardized, and how interventions can be tailored to improve the quality of life of persons with dementia as well as reduce often overwhelming caregiving burdens.
This is not an easy to read guide for caregivers. It is not a book for lay people, sometimes frightening, and at times hard to think about. It should probably NOT be read by someone WITH the disease, but it did give me a broader , more indepth look at this horrible disease that is suffered by a family member.
