Everyone has a story to tell. A Mom After God's Own Heart, is a collection of stories through one mom's journey to instill Godly character in her five children. Through marriage and divorce, to being a single mom, it reveals the heartbreak, humor and the naked truth about what it means to be a mom after God's own heart. Motherhood can push us to our limits; stretch us to our breaking point, and if we allow it, it can make us grow. As moms we are called to share our struggles and our triumphs with other moms. We have this great opportunity to offer comfort and hope, and to say, "God is faithful!" God is not looking for perfect moms. He is looking for moms with a heart for Him. Whether you're a mom chasing after God, or exhausted by the constant demands of motherhood, this book will encourage and inspire you by opening your eyes to see how God can change everything.

Thank you Goodreads Giveaway for an opportunity to read: A Mom After God's Own Heart: God's Ever-Present Hand in the Life of a Mom by Alexa Shepard in exchange for an honest review. What an enjoyable book! Thank you Alexa Shepard for sharing your story, your family and your faith. I am coming up to the teenage years with my daughter and your book was certainly a boost in the right direction. I especially enjoyed the chapter where you talked about how today, we micro manage our children. We want to "rescue" our children from every situation and be in control. My daughter has just transitioned to Middle School and I no longer have the control I use to in Elementary School. Now my daughter is learning to be independent. I now realize that by grabbing the reigns as much as I do, I am robbing her of developing her own self confidence. Yet, I am there to encourage her, guide her and cheer her on. I equip her with her "armor of God," a helmet of salvation, shield of faith, breast plate of righteousness, belt of truth, sword of the Spirit, shoes to spread the Good News. I love on page 79 Alexa Shepard states:" As much as we love our children, God's love is infinitely bigger. We need to do everything we can to protect our children and then place them in God's hands to handle the rest." God has a purpose and a plan. He will use us for His good. I loved the chapter on Adoption as well. Thank your for sharing that you were adopted. I am an adoptive mom. God sent my daughter to me to care for and love, through selfless birth parents who loved their baby so much to give her up. Adoption has been a word used from day 1. My daughter is a gift, a blessing from God. I highly recommend any mom to read this book! It was very enjoyable and I actually felt as if the author and I we talking over coffee. Thanks again Alexa Shepard for sharing your story!
