Well... I must say that this book was a good one to feel the atmosphere of the political and social situation of Spain in period between the end of the First World War and the beginning of the Second World War (1918's -1939), so it made me think about the value of freedom and peace... about how people managed to survive and continue their living in that "Cruel world" that existed those days and about those who lost their lives just because of being in one or another side of the conflict zones...besides of this mournful background we see a woman Maria, (who is the main character of the whole story) like the one, whose appearance and personality steals many men hearts, but at the same time she, in spite of being a mother of 3 children and having a husband that was living and working abroad for years, that way leaving behind his family... wasn't happy and didn't achieve the things she always wanted..however she ends up by staying faithful to her husband even she had a lot of possibilities to cheat on him to live a better life... there's nothing unusual in this story ( main values are the same in nowadays) maybe just the author's manner of writing... it was like Maria is the storyteller and we listen to her while she is telling the story...

Uzrunāja grāmatas fons jeb laiks kurā norisinājās darbība un Marijas spēcīgais raksturs turēties pie saviem principiem...mazliet varbūt traucēja stāsta izpildījums, daudz personāžu un maz emociju starp viņiem, bet kara fons pietiekami labs, lai radītu kādu nedaudz vēsturisku ieskatu Spānijas iekšpolitikā lielajā starpkaru posmā..
