A fun collection of essays on science (allegedly) involved in iconic superheroes' powers. I liked the sectioned format of chapters and easygoing writing style.

It's not always easy to combine educational and fact-filled content with entertaining and fun reading, but Barry W. Fitzgerald has managed to do so in this book.

The book is an entertaining journey into scientific possibilities of some of the most popular and best known superheroes. The book manages easy readability and approachability while covering basic physics and biology behind superpowers.

Included are also plenty of references to both popular culture as well as latest scientific research.

As pointed out by other reviewers as well, previous knowledge about the specific heroes discussed in the book is not necessary. Characters, their powers and backgrounds are explained well enough to help everyone get along.

Great ideas and possibilities for superpowers in this book. If you've not seen all of the superhero films don't worry as the author includes a summary of the relevant films. Before getting into the superpowers you read about some science from high school and then there's the current scientific research after that. Last chapter talks about monitoring superpowers and even references Captain America: Civil War which was out after the book was released. Some nice science images in each chapter help with explaining everything. Overall a super book.
