A fan of the series

Although a different author, this held my interest and it was a good book and I recommend it. I think you will too.

I really enjoyed the Wayward Pines trilogy by Blake Crouch and I was happy to see that he opened up his world for entry by other authors. I have been reading a number of these books that add to the mythos, some better than others. Getzin's book (one of two) is a prequel of sorts, adding a story to the time before Pines #1. His premise is original, I won't spoil it here. Dr. Pilcher, Pam and Pope appear in this story; I think they are the only characters from the original trilogy.

The book is a fast read, lots of action and some world expansion within the Pines mythos. At times, though, the text seemed a bit juvenile, as though written for the teen set. This book is a good addition to the Pines world. I found only a few typos in the text (I read the ebook format, kindle.) I have now started the second book in Getzin's "Inside the Complex" series; I don't believe the two stories are connected, but I have not read very far.
