This actually only took me about a week to read - I had a long break in the middle to read some fiction! It's a very accessible account of the impact of psychology on language learning and teaching. Concepts are explained clearly, and I've already copied a couple of pages for some of my colleagues to read. I can see that I'll be referring to this book regularly.

I had to read this book to prepare for an exam. At times the language could have been more concise and straigforward and I would have preferred focusing a little longer on the main theories rather than reading lots and lots of different bits and pieces.

The topics were not new to me and, yes, overall, the book does a great job at explaining how:

complex and dynamic
personal
situational - contextual
emotional
interrelated
interpersonal
intrapersonal
cognitive
metacognitive
unique

the learning process is.

My fav chapter was on the history of psychological approaches and their influence on language learning and teaching. I'm not sure though about how clear it would be to someone who never heard of behaviorism and cognitivism.
