Wendy Wood, born Gwendoline Emily Meacham, was a campaigner for Scottish independence. An eccentric and colourful figure, she was also a gifted artist, sculptor and writer, and her theatrical political activism often created controversy.
Written in the 1950s, this slim little volume follows the year of a woman living in a Highland croft and what sorts of things she does during that month, whether it be cutting hay, picking brambles, or herding the cattle to the local cattle sale. Each brief chapter is followed by a poem.
