An Army in Heaven

Rate this book
What do people see as death approaches? What will Heaven be like? What will Hell be like? An Army In Heaven records the deathbed visions of hospice patients, as well as those in a critical care setting who have died and then returned to describe their experience on the other side. Read about their accounts of Heaven and Hell, their visions of loved ones who have long traversed to the other side. Compassionate and compelling, this book retells their experiences. Their accounts are moving, edifying and sometimes disturbing, as cases of terrible abuse, neglect and even the demonic are also witnessed. Written by the nurse assigned to their care, An Army In Heaven is a compilation of their stories, what they saw on the other side and what they see as the veil thins during the dying process. It will change how you view life and most importantly, how you view death.

Powerful - could not put this book down

This was a genuine read.... the last chapter about the demon inside a dying man, rearing its ugly head and literally howling and spewing things that were hurtful and real was just something I have never read about ( well I guess except for in the Bible) ... and this particular book has a different vantage point other than a NDE testimonial in that it deals with the transition from the body to the spirit...I particularly like the testimony of the man who, although was a Christian, was very afraid of death, flat out seemed terrified and not ready....he was scared he wasnt gonna make the cut....but as he was about to pass, he suddenly was so excited and wanted to tell everyone to not be afraid at all, nothing to be afraid of as he described what he was seeing totally comforted him.

Good description of pre-death experiences, from the viewpoint of a very caring and capable nurse. I just wish it hadn't ended with the story it did! I would have preferred a happier ending.

Good description of end of life experiences. Just wish it hadn't ended as it did; I would have preferred a happier ending. Nevertheless, a good read, I couldn't put it down!

Great book!

Great book! Some stories are heartwarming and others, spine tingling. As a nurse who also works with end of life patients, I found these experiences to be extremely interesting. Her compassion for all of her patients is admirable and praiseworthy. By taking the time to listen, she was giving and receiving many blessings.

Learn how awesome Jesus Is

Ever wonder how to live a life most pleasing to God or what things you do count most? Want to learn how not to be afraid of death?

This book answers so many of these questions in very easy to read, short stories that are told in conversational language. I read it in one day even reading two of the stories out loud to my wife.

I wish there were more stories. I have also learned what a giving person a good nurse is. What a delight that we are all blessed to have such good people around us.

Moving. I cried, was inspired and also terrified. Must give credit to the caring and dedication of the nurses that can do that type of vocation. Book tells of love, good and beautiful love and then of evil dark and full of hate.

Stories make you feel at peace if you are someone facing a life threatening illness. There is more, a going home where there is love and no more pain.

Very moving, very powerful and extremely thought-provoking.
Kelly Jankowski seems like a wonderful nurse with true God given abilities. Her compassion with her patients is touching and her ability to get them to reveal their heart and soul to her is beautiful. This book will make you smile, cry and be terrified.

This one was a tough one to put down... Do yourself a favor and pick this one up. I bought this on a whim, and it's one of the most compelling books I've read in quite some time.

Very interesting read

First I read a sample of the book and do to the sadness of the first couple stories of people in hospice I didn't think I wanted to read the rest of the book but I did and glad I did. The book is true stories of people in hospice and very near death.

Interesting book!

An interesting book. I have always wondered how much nurses knew about what patients sometimes see during their stay in the hospital. In 2002, I was in the hospital ER with pneumonia. I met a spirit that was there to pick up a person who was going to arrive in the ER, dead from a car accident. The spirit was going to take that person to the spirit world because their life was over. Spirits are telepathic and apparently we are too. My nurses could not see him or the portal but I could see both clear as day. I finally convinced one of the nurses that there was a portal there when I had her try to step inside it. The minute she tried that, she suddenly stepped backwards and said that she just got the worst feeling of her life and asked where she would have been going. I told her probably to her next life. She basically freaked out and said, "OH HELL NO!" Thank you Kelley for the book!

All in all this was a good little book. It is very short, 144 pages, but a lot of interesting stories in this short little read. It is kind of sad and depressing, as it focuses on people who are in the end stages of life and most are nasty deaths. I did not see the relation at all to the title, as no stories were about an army in heaven or even referred to so, until the very end when Ms. Jankowski finally made a reference to the title. The book tells of the dying process, quite a few medical procedures, and the patient's experience with the dying process. I liked the book and thought it was very interesting.

Amazing Stories!

This is one of the best books I have read about people's experiences in the process of passing on to eternal life. Good and bad. I learned a lot and you will too. Kelley is a fabulous nurse! The kind of nurse you would want by your side of you were on Hospice care. She tells it like it is!

Reading this book shifted my mindset on so many levels. Kelley simply sticks to sharing her patients' stories without adding her own spin allowing the reader to peer into end-of-life stories and assimilate them into the reader's practice and/or life. As a nurse and/or friend/family, I share her stories and provide hope when all hope is lost.

Hate hospice

This book was hard for me to read. We had a lousy hospice care for my mother one year ago, and I cannot believe the horrible care she received and how fast they killed her with morphine. Would not recommend this book to anyone.

Fabulous read!

I loved every single story! The “Sidney” one in particular moved me. I can’t imagine how many more Kelly has had told to her over the years. Thank you for helping people(all of us) be less scared of death. Live kind and ask for forgiveness ❤️
