What makes a villain? Elisabet Babineaux never saw herself as a villain. She was the protagonist of her life, just as we all are. Born a Princess, her whole life was planned and laid out before her. She knew where her life was headed and what was expected. That all changed the night she met Juan sin Miedo. Betrayed by her own family, Elisabet's life course is sent spiraling as she tries to learn to control her new appetite, her grief, and new powers. The betrayal dealt out by Elisabet's family will have lasting and devastating effects as she spends her immortal life attempting to replace that which was taken from her. A twist of fate, a little magic, love, and a lot of loss and betrayal sends Elisabet on an adventure she never could have foreseen. Her story spans more than five centuries and multiple continents. Every story has two sides. We have heard Katelynn's and Victoria's versions. Now it is time to learn Elisabet's side of the story and understand what drove her to become a villain."

Love that it’s the villains story, and instead of hating Elizabeth you feel sorry for her and want her to find love. Great job! Can’t wait to read the next book!
Awesome!! Great book!!! After reading books 1 and 2, I was emotionally invested in this series, and Ms. Hillstrom doesn't let the reader down. Once again I was drawn in and didn't want to put this book down. The characters are strong and the plot is engaging. Ms. Hillstrom writes a full body, well rounded story. I even felt sympathetic for the evil, bad girl. Brava!!! An author I will be following from now on.
A thrilling and heartbreaking look into the making of a villain (4.5 Stars)
In the third installment of the kiss series, we dive deep into the past of the villain of the first book, Élisabet. While mysterious hints had been dropped about her origins and backstory, nothing could have prepared me for the full tale.
Thrilling and heartbreaking, we finally begin to understand why she was so aggressively desperate in her claims on Wesley and her vendetta against Victoria/Katelynn. A tough cookie from a devastatingly young age, our Parisian princess was used for her beauty and wiles by her monstrous king of a father. And just when she thought she’d found love and solace, it was all ripped from her just as she was hurtled unceremoniously into immortality. But that was just the beginning of the betrayal and abuse for our villain.
Over her six hundred plus years, Élisabet experienced loss, ruin, and ostracization at nearly every turn. It would be enough to drive any sane person over the edge. But Liz, not being exactly sane, was driven a different direction. And with a determined madness she attempts to force happiness into her life. If only it worked that way.
The events of her long life before modern times flowed seamlessly and, even knowing that she wouldn’t, I held out hopes that time would serve to mature her further. Alas, I found the modern Liz to be the shallow and insecure mess of the first book. Her devolvement into those traits made a macabre, disheartening sort of sense.
I was however also left with hope born of a deeper understanding of how vampires in this world function, and what that could mean for the future of Wesley and Katelynn. And I look forward to seeing more of that evolve in the next installment.
Each book gets better than the last! It's hard to feel sorry for a villain or to understand how they can be that way but this book does that. You totally understand Elisabeth why she is the way she is. A must read in the series! Can not wait for the next one. You truly become interested in the characters and want to know what happens next! Awesome book!
