This is a truly weird picture book about a kitten who escapes drowning in the sea, is attacked by a shark, kills and eats the shark, then sails home to show up on YOUR doorstep, where he will most likely kill and eat you, too. It's like the German version of the surreal Japanese cartoon "Cat Soup."

A children's book that is a reminder for us all that we don't know what others have gone through. A call for empathy for the people who show up in our lives and the immigrants who show up on our shores.

This book is strangely beautiful, depressing, and in many ways very very German.
