A Slave's Tale

Rate this book
In this coming-of-age tale, Lucinda, a young, African American slave with a tumultuous past, is relocated to a new life on the Jackson Plantation. Eager to be rid of her terrible owner, Master Sanders, she finds herself lost in thought, examining her new home. She is shown the ropes by a plucky young housekeeper by the name of Tessie, and her parents. Grateful for work in the Big House, she eventually finds routine and the long sought-after escape from her sins, yet one thing haunts her dreams: the memory of a handsome young white man standing beneath a willow tree.

A fun, standalone romance with no cliffhanger.

I didn't realize that this was a novella when I saw it on Amazon. Usually I look to see how many pages there are in a book. You can imagine how I felt when the story came to an end. I wish that it was a full length book. I enjoyed what I did read but I just wish there was more to the story. I would like to know what happens to the characters. It would be great if there was a part 2. I can only hope.
