THE COMPLETE SERIES I never asked for this. All the aliens around me look at me like they’re hungry…
3040. Earth is at war with the two newcomer alien races.
My name is Colette Wilson, and Tyen Onaselesia, an Ilzani warlord, is holding me captive. Instead of having coal-black skin like his relatives, Tyen is purely white. He has a serene face and muscular build that makes him look different from the others. But I never asked for this. All the aliens around me look at me like they’re hungry, and I can tell that Tyen feels the same way. His ethics and cultural differences in courtship are surprisingly different from what I’m used to. I don’t know what to think. I feel like I am caught in a battle amongst a bunch of lust-driven aliens who wish to claim me as their own brides.
With the war going on around me I am caught in a small-scale war of my own. Is Tyen just another one of those snarling, vicious, dominant creatures that want to chase me down and take me as their own?
♥ WARNING: Alien - Human Bride is a standalone 60K+ novel with no cliffhangers. However, it also contains adult-level sexiness and some intense action scenes and is meant for mature readers only. Read at your own risk!

Meh... Complicated Weird Needed to skim many parts of useless blah blah... Fell short on many levels. Character inconsistencies. Wanted to slap some of them half the time.
“Human Bride” is a set of three novellas that focus on Colette and her upcoming marriage to an alien named Tyen. I really wanted to like this book but unfortunately I couldn't get into it. This book dragged and didn't really seem to go anywhere. I was hoping for more of a sci-fi romance book but instead got insta love and very little else. Nothing is really explained or explored and the book just seems to end abruptly. I also did not connect with Colette, I found her to be rather annoying most of the time and actually wished that Tyen had ended up with someone else. I won this book on Library Thing and did not receive any compensation for my review.
I dig the potential in the world she has built, especially the opportunity for cultural exchange/conflict/resolution, but much of it feels rushed and like the human character is quickly swept into what she protested with to begin with. There is a scene that is justified as not rape that does not feel consensual and more like victim rationalizing. Overall the idea was great, but I am not overly comfortable with how it played out. It has potential but was rushed and rationalized.
I received this ARC for an honest review. I really enjoyed all three books. Tyen, Collette, Marso and Yuyu were great. I will read the other books by Clara A. Tobin.
