Raised to be a pampered socialite, Adelle Brentmore only had one friend her mother approve of, and that was because Eleanor was so far beneath their social class she was sure Adelle would drop her soon enough. Instead, she clung to Ellie and a new girl she met at finishing school. Addie began to realize everything her mother told her, was intended to manipulate her into a marriage that would benefit her parents financially. Addie escaped the clutches of the first man her parents chose as husband material by becoming ill. It was then that she and her friends knew that her parents were not looking out for her best interests. She was prepared for the second man, but didn't expect she would become a prisoner in her own home. Escaping and avoiding capture became her only chance of survival.

What a Fantastic Story!
I have been waiting for an Author like this, he writes a story that takes you to the point in time, and places the characters are. You feel as though you are one of them, or right along with them. The story was exciting, took turns, and twists, you didn’t expect. This story touched upon a subject that was widely in practice for the time, and he portrayed the parents and children exactly as they would be. Great writing, fantastic Author. Will definitely recommend this book as a must read.

Delightful Story
I truly enjoy the books that I've read by Jean Kuhnke. I love a happy ending after all the problems the heroine goes through while remaining sweet and true to her Christian faith. This book is better edited than the others I've read although there were still some errors, but not enough to distract from the story.

Excitement turning every page.
The story is gripping from beginning to end, like all of Jean Kunke's books. Struggling to stay hidden and safe Abbie helps others that he has been hurting. It ends with Justice and love.. All of her beeks are great reads!!

Great read
I have read, I think all of Jean L. Kuhnke books. I am in process of rereading them for the second time. I think this might be my favorite. Although I enjoyed reading any book by this Author

Good Read
I really enjoyed this book. At first, I wasn’t sure if I was going to like it, but I did. Good story line and interesting characters. I would definitely recommend reading this book.
