The world can crumble around us, but we’ve always got each other. Always.
Ava Grant has learned the hard way not to trust anyone. Trust equals opening up to another person--and allowing herself to be hurt. She’s done with pain, until she’s summoned by the Sources. Her world is thrown into upheaval. Two men can help her, if she’s willing to let them in. Will she able to open her heart to a vampire and a wolf shifter?
Joachim Stokes and Padraig O’Malley are the best of friends. The attraction between them is palpable, but there’s something missing. When they are tasked with protecting Ava, they realize they’d found what they’ve been missing--her. A bond forms between the three, but some bonds are meant to be broken. But with the war heating up, Ava's past won’t stay hidden forever.
Will their blossoming love wither before they get a chance to stoke the flames, or will it be strong enough to overcome their problems?
Publisher's Note: This story was previously released by another publisher, and has been re-edited and revised for this edition.
I write romance, the hotter the better. I love racing and including racing and art into my writing. I'm published with the Wild Rose Press and Total-E-Bound.
~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads ~~
This is the third in the series - and I have to admit the first that I have read. I think that it would be a better experience if they were read in order, as clearly the underlying plot is ongoing and the characters have been introduced previously. An insight into the connections between Padraig and Joachim from previous books would make the development of the bond much clearer. Ava's arrival at the house and some of her past would also be explained.
That said it is a quick and in places steamy menage read. It takes the story forward and also introduces some more new characters who will be placing themselves in danger for their newly found mates all too soon. I am going to read back and look forward to the next book, as I want to know just what Maslow is, and what his master plan involves.
Battle Scars book three is You Belong to Me by Wendi Zwaduk, this should be read in order, helps you understand the world we are entering and why things are the way they are. However the love story of Paddy, Ava and Joachim is not dependent on reading previous books. Ava is pretty abused when we meet her. She has secrets, and scars to prove she has survived the very worse and come out the other side. She is not very trusting but lucky for her the Supers have given her two mates to help her learn to love and trust again. Padraig or Paddy, he is a vampire, brave, strong and sent in to help protect the seer, Ava from danger. He never thought he would be falling for her or for a certain pesky but innocent werewolf. Joachim is a sweet, dominate innocent werewolf. He has no idea what these two have in store for him. He is going to learn love, loss and faith with these two at his side. Over all I felt that Ava was an afterthought in this book. I think the love between Paddy and Joachim at least on Paddy’s side was stronger than the love they had for Ava. That made me sad for her. She deserved a man or two who would put her first. I felt she put them first but not the other way around except for Joachim. Paddy I felt was more into Joachim than Ava. However the story over all in this book is really good. You get to see where Ms. Zwaduk is taking us next and how the war is progressing. It is a must read for those reasons alone. I really loved this book and cannot wait for more from the Battle Scar series in the future.
