* I received a complementary copy of the book for an honest review *
This book is #2 in the series, and it did not disappoint. The events were totally unexpected, because I think I might know how it’s going to go, but there were quite a few surprises. I’m ready to read #3 right now because her stories have great flow.

Shadows of Deception (The Shadows Trilogy #2) by Amy Hale

I received this book from the author for an honest review.

EPP The drama from book 1 jumps right back in when we start book 2. Colt and Jane are looking for answers to where the bad guys are and where the children are they stole. When Jane is about at her last bit of hope we discover Jeremy. The three tag team up and with the help of their favorite doctor try to figure out some new clues. When someone comes and harms the doctor, they all finally decide their choice of action.

As the group start to travel, they soon discover more of Jane’s old friends. I personally loved Rachel and how she dealt with Brett’s insta -ove…..She cracked me up threatening him when he give her donuts for breakfast…..I really enjoyed this rag tag team of misfits or even a bit of an X-Men vibe that this group puts off. Learning the skills and secret abilities each had was really cool as well. A lot of this story is the team learning to work together, building trusting relationships for the final showdown in book 3 and dealing with a traitor in their camp………BOO HISS!!! I won’t even get start on Jane and her terrible visions that she is having 

I enjoyed Colt and Jane’s continued relationship. They are still very connected and they can read each other very well which comes in very handy in the situation they are in. I laughed a few timed at how everyone perceived Colt as an OLD MAN or the “get a room” type comments the other kids would make to his and Jane’s goo goo eyes.

*I received this book as a gift for an honest Review*

HOLY BATMAN BALLS! This one was a hell of a ride. The title pretty much gave the tone away with this book. I am not going to to complain at all. I had fun figuring out which of these friends were going to cause the deception.

With everything that is going on in the book Amy Hale found this awesome balance to show the ups and downs of Janes and Colt's relationship. Like any real relationship, there are bumpy roads. I at times felt the need to sit each of them down and say listen here!

I Love the introduction of new characters, and Brett getting some stage time. As a fangirl, I am really hoping that any of these awesome peeps (cough cough *Brett*) get there own spin off.

I had to refrain to go into full stalker mode, at the end of the book. I really wanted to get ahold of Amy and demand to know what happens next. It was seriously one heck of a cliffhanger. Of all the possible scenarios I could've thought of, that is just not one I would've come up with.

I had the honor of proofreading Shadows of Deception, and I enjoyed it so much that I had to one-click Shadows of Jane. Hale's writing grabbed me by my collar and pulled me into Jane and Colt's continued adventure. I felt compelled to read the book as fast as I could, and I'm pretty sure I finished it within forty-eight hours. Hale left me on edge as I turned each page with an anxious need to know how Jane would navigate through the maze of mystery that is SOD. I thoroughly enjoyed reading SOD, and gladly give it five stars.

Part two of The Shadows Trilogy, this story is just as captivating as the first!

Jane is still having nightmares. She is also still being hunted. In this story, her and Colt deal with trying to have time together, while trying to save the other gifted people that have been taken by the Curators. As face paced as ever, I could not put it down! (and what a cliffhanger!)

Hale's writing is witty and sharp. The world she has created has you at the edge of your seat from start to finish. I highly recommend reading part one - how Jane and Colt get together should not be missed.

Uncaged Book Reviews:

Jane learns more about her gifts, and there is more danger, more betrayal and a lot more action. My one complaint in the book, is the lack of descriptions of the characters. I still am not getting the detail I’d like so I can picture them better, but I did grow a bit more attached to several characters, but still not so much with Colt. For some reason, he doesn’t click with me as much as the others. Toss a few head spinning surprises in at the ending, which actually is what pushed this book up a half a star, and you won’t be able to wait to get to book three.
