The Book Ten

After a year together, wolf shifter Derek Williams and vet Brian O’Donogue decide to marry. All Brian wants is to be legally part of Derek’s family, after his own disowned him for being gay. As far as Derek is concerned, he already belongs to his mate, heart, body, and soul. But their plans are put on hold when Derek discovers an injured young shifter, Tommy, one night while running as a wolf.

When they learn the truth behind Tommy’s presence in Washington, they are quickly drawn into a war that has waged in the shadows for decades. Brian, Derek, and their allies must fight against the Knights and their leader, Arcas, to prevent them from attaining an ancient scroll, one piece of a weapon that can destroy all shifters.

When worlds collide, no one will be spared.

About the author

M.D. Grimm

64 books122 followers
M.D. Grimm has wanted to write stories since second grade (kind of young to make life decisions, but whatever) and nothing has changed since then (well, plenty of things actually, but not that!).

Thankfully, she has indulgent parents who let her dream, but also made sure she understood she’d need a steady job to pay the bills (they never let her forget it!). After graduating from the University of Oregon and majoring in English, (let’s be honest: useless degree, what else was she going to do with it?) she started on her writing career and couldn’t be happier.

Working by day and writing by night (or any spare time she can carve out), she enjoys embarking on romantic quests and daring adventures (living vicariously, you could say) and creating characters that always triumph against the villain, (or else what’s the point?) finding their soul mate in the process.

For readers who have at least read previous titles in this series, Shifting Moon returns to the original couple who started everything, Derek and Brian, who first made their appearance in Psychic Moon. Shifting Moon also returns to the present time after giving us the ‘journey’ of the magical ancient scrolls in the last three stories. We found out that the ancient scroll that previously ‘buried’ deep in the sea is now resurfacing and of course the Knights, led by Arcas, are trying to get their hands on it.

I can’t really say much, to be honest. I mean, I knew what I would get basically. It was nice to see how the story finally got back to the threat of the present time. It was nice to also get the update of Derek, Brian, and their pets (though there were also sniff moments regarding one of their pets). And I liked the prologue – with Arcas and his second-hand man, Gregor. Somehow it brought a different side to Arcas as a character; even if I wouldn’t know if it was genuine or not. So, overall I liked it, and I will still stick to the next book to see what the Knights will do.

For new readers – well, I advise you to at least read Brian and Derek’s book first. At least you can get information about this established couple. Because if you don't, the things that happened in this story might confuse you a little.

Besides being happy to be starting book ten in a series I have grown to love for its constant excitement, adventures, unpredictability, and the author’s willingness to tease me by dispersing information in a slow and steady manner, I was delighted to be returning to Brian and Derek whose story started the whole series off. Now, if the Knights, particularly Arcas, can be defeated, then my little corner of the world will be joyful.

Brian and Derek are still happy and in love a year after officially being together, although losing Derek's beloved old dog, Henry, has left grief to work through. It's so difficult being a pet owner, sometimes, because the fact is that they don't live as long as humans do, so it's incredibly painful every time we have to say good-bye, and I empathized with Derek and Brian. Life isn't completely perfect for them, though, as they're struggling a little financially, and Derek seems more upset about it and not getting carried away with their wedding, whereas Brian just wants a nice wedding. An argument as old as time.

This was good, but by book 10 the story is starting to get a bit repetitive. Once again, the bad guys almost got the scroll, failed, but still got away in the end. It seems as if the series is spinning it's wheels as much as the Agency is. I'm getting antsy for some significant progress to be made against the Knights instead of this series of clashes and/or near misses.

There are 5 parts to the overall story and only 2 ( The Beginning and Scrolls) are out so far, which include 12 books - about 20 books will be in the total (see author's website for complete listing).

I have read them 2x now as more books have come out. Each book has it's own story but there is a back story that threads throughout them - I will wait until all the parts come out now to be able to complete the overall story before reading again.

Also, the next time I read the series, I will read it in chronological order of the stories, not in the order they were written. You can do either, but the books from earlier times tell the deeper underlining story of the scrolls, which is what keeps the series going since each book has it's own HEA.

Wolf shifter Derek Williams is driving home after a run in the park with his dogs when a young wolf shifter bumps into Derek’s car. Derek takes the injured wolf home to his mate Brian O’Donogue for treatment. Derek and Brian soon learn that big trouble is right on the heels of the injured wolf. Arcas, leader of the Knights, is searching for an ancient scroll recovered from the ocean. Joining the four scrolls together will be a weapon that can destroy all shifters.

Shifting Moon is the tenth book in The Shifters series. The plot gives more insight of the history of the ancient war that is now part of this century. The decadences of the fae are humans with gifted abilities, these are the people connected to the knights and the group known as the agency who have vowed to protect the shifters from the radical knights. The knight’s members have been brainwashed into seeking to cleanse the world of shifters by Arcas whose true motivation is to get revenge for an event that occurred centuries ago.

M.D. Grimm has created another intruding action filled addition to this series. I am looking forward to the permanent end of the fanatical knights.

This is definitely a book where you need to have been following along in the series. At the very least, you should have read book one in the series.

We met Derek and Brian in book one, now they’ve been together for awhile and are thinking about taking the next step… marriage. They have some concerns about the process but all of they know they love one another.

While in the midst of the plans for the wedding the scroll that we’ve been following in the last several books shows up and causes a big problem.

We hear about Poe again and meet Pan another Agent. We also meet Derek’s mom and another shifter and his mate Zach.

There is a bit of hot lovin’, some exciting Arcas action and a few feels in this novel. The story arc moves forward and I look forward to seeing what happens to Gregor next!

We return with our original couple Brian and Derek from Psychic Moon. Story continues with the search of the ancient scrolls. Everyone has believed that is sunk with the ocean with it Hawk protectors. Arcas is sending out his Knights to find the scrolls no matter what. When Derek finds an injured shifter in is territory he is not happy. Derek must decide what is best for him and his mate, even if that mean calling for help with the Knights. Can’t wait to see what happens next and if they are able to stop Arcas and the knights. Highly recommend this book and series
