Eager to be on her own away from home, twenty-year-old Aggie Anders accepts a relative’s invitation to live in Coon Hollow Coven. Although she’s a witch from a different coven, what locals say about the Hollow confuses her. How can witchcraft there live and breathe through souls of the dead?
Aggie’s new residence in this strange southern Indiana world is a deserted homestead cabin. The property’s carriage house serves as the coven’s haunted Halloween fundraiser. It’s a great opportunity for her to make new friends, especially with the coven’s sexy new High Priest Logan.
But living in the homestead also brings Aggie enemies. Outsiders aren’t welcome. A cantankerous, old neighbor tries to frighten her off by warning her that the homestead is cursed. Local witches who practice black magic attempt to use their evil to drive Aggie away and rid their coven of her unusual powers as a sun witch.
Determined to stay and fit in, Aggie discovers not only that the cabin is cursed, but she alone is destined to break the curse before moonrise on Samhain. If she fails, neither the living nor the dead will be safe.
Series description:
The Coon Hollow Coven Tales series is about a coven of witches in a fictitious southern Indiana community, south of Bloomington, the neck of the woods where I spent my favorite childhood years surrounded by the love of a big family. The books are rich with a warm Hoosier down-home feel. There are interesting interactions between coven members and locals from the nearby small town of Bentbone. If magic wasn’t enough of a difference between the two groups, the coven folk adhere to the 1930s lifestyle that existed when the coven formed.
A note to readers: the books in the Coon Hollow Coven Tales series are written to be read in any order. The series is about one community, and its residents may pass in and out of various books, but each book has its own unique and special story to be told.

When you hear the word witch, what do you think of? Pointy hats, flying brooms, an evil cackle and maybe a warty nose? Have you ever thought that witches are people, too? That they have the same desires, good sides and bad sides that “non-witchy” people do? Aggie Anders wanted to some freedom, to stand on her own, so when she was offered a place to stay in Coon Hollow Coven, she was surprised to find that things were different, outsiders are not welcome and this cozy little town isn’t quite as warm as she had hoped it would be.
The cabin she moves into is the focal point for the annual town fundraiser, so naturally Aggie, a sun witch thinks this will be the perfect chance to meet her new neighbors. Too bad they aren’t as generous in their thoughts as she is. Outsiders are not welcome and she is told the cabin she is staying in is cursed. Something is not right about this town, she can feel the black magic in the air and one of the few people to help her out is the handsome and charismatic High Priest, Logan. While her heart sings for Logan, there are evil chants being created that will endanger the entire town and the dead aren’t any safer. It seems the only thing to stop this evil madness is the powers that Aggie possess, the light and force of the sun. Time is running out to save the town, friendly or not and it all rests on Aggie’s shoulders? Should she stay or cut bait and run?
Witch’s Cursed Cabin by Marsha A. Moore has an ominous plot, but her delivery of this tale is anything but dark and eerie. Ms. Moore actually puts the ugliness into the background as she focuses on the positive attributes of her main characters. In a world full of dark characters, questionable heroes and magic of all kinds, Marsha A. Moore brings her witches to life and paints them as “regular” people with special gifts, as opposed to the nasty versions we have come to know. A wonderfully magical tale that won’t keep you up at night, wondering if your nosey neighbor across the street is brewing something with eye of newt in her kitchen. Ms. Moore is a refreshing talent in the paranormal world!

Aggie moves to Coon Hollow in a bid to find her independence and make her own way in life. She didn't know that being an outsider in a haunted house would evoke a curse and a vengeful banshee.
I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review. This is the second in the Coon Hollow Coven series - the author notes in the synopsis that they can be read in any order, and I can confirm that Witch's Cursed Cabin does read as a stand-alone. There's a familiarity about Jancie and Rowe, and you can tell they've been centerstage in the first book; but otherwise everything revolves around Aggie and her discovery of the town and its peculiar habits.
The story is a pleasant read. It has a very natural approach to witchcraft; even though the Coon Hollow Coven keep themselves separate from non-magic folk, it isn't hidden or a secret. It makes up the fabric of their everyday lives - literally in some cases! They use magic at work and at home, it is woven into chores and used to entertain. The magic itself isn't a snap of the fingers and miracle happening, it's more about channelling, preparation and learning spells to chant. It's the correct herbs, or objects that might seem run-of-the-mill, but are imbued with certain energies.
It was interesting to read about the world that Moore has created, and you got to experience quite a bit of it, as Aggie goes about establishing her life in her new home, and trying to uncover the secrets behind the curse. No one alive seems to know any facts, but luckily the dead hang around.
Aggie is a good central character. She's a witch, but absolutely normal, someone I could definitely be friends with. She's nice, reasonably positive, and has a quiet strength that stops all the dark things from scaring her away. Fenton was definitely my favourite character, he's entertaining and says exactly what's on his mind.
The rest of the characters have a depth to them, one of the bonuses of a series, where the writer is so familiar with her cast, and stays true to all their quirks. There's a nice feel of family and community throughout the story.
The main problem I had was that this book felt veeery long. I think it's about 300 pages, but felt much longer. There's a lot of repetition, mainly over the fact that Aggie is the one that can break the curse and stop the banshee. Every little step she made, or thought process was accompanied with the fact that only Aggie can break the curse and stop the banshee. Did I say that already? I felt that the book could have been condensed and the pace improved by removing some of these musings.
Speaking of which, as much as I liked Aggie, it did feel like she was having a lot of speshulness heaped upon her. She wasn't anything out of the ordinary, but since coming to Coon Hollow, all the guys (living and dead) are making eyes at her; which makes all the girls jealous. Ghosts, house spirits, talking racoons and magic trees all take turns to bestow their own unique gift or blessing on Aggie, and it felt a little like overkill.
As I mentioned before, the book is very pleasant, and it was an enjoyable read, but there was nothing that hooked my attention, nothing that I wanted to stay up until midnight to found out about. The mystery wasn't very mysterious. There were no surprises to be had in the plot, and as soon as the cast of characters came up, you knew the part they would play. Logan is the love interest. The biddies are awful. They bitchy girl is bitchy. The excitement wasn't very exciting. There's no build of tension or drama, it just logically and gently steps along from scene to scene. The romance wasn't very romantic - which is a positive if you're cold-hearted like me. Aggie and Logan are put together, because that's what is supposed to happen, but it doesn't swamp the story. I think the issue I had was that there was a touch of everything, but not enough to be the real hook of the story.
This story was about 3.5 stars for me. Overall I enjoyed it, and would definitely be interested in reading the rest of the series.
I received a copy of this book free of charge in exchange for an honest review via Lovers Of The Paranormal book group on Goodreads.
This book throws you into a world of magic, and mystery that you won't want to leave. If you want to spend a night just getting away from everyday life then pick this book up. It will put some awesome magic, and mystery that you can't resist into your night. Good for both adults and teens I would call this a book good for everyone.
I was sad that life, health, and other things had to interfere with reading this book. Every time I had to put down this book I huffed and pouted, because I wanted to go deeper into this amazing and well written world. GOOD NEWS: I finally got to finish this book, and was so amazed at how much adventure this gave my life. You walk through a mystery, and this mystery was one of those ones that kept you wondering, and trying to figure things out. Twists and turns all through the book keep you latched on.
This book had a big family feel to it. You could really get to know just how much characters cared about one another. Then of coarse along with that family feel there is always that one person that just doesn't get it, and wants to cause trouble. The family which were mostly just amazing friends close enough to be family stuck together through it all.
So much magic was in this book. The magic seemed old and mysterious, and at other times new and exciting. Magic is a complicated thing, but as it seems when used for good, good things happen.
I must sound a little mysterious talking about the book like this, that is me just trying not to spoil a great story. You can live the mystery all yourself, and enjoy the fun of it. Take that time before bed when you worry about the little, and big things, and give this book a shot. You might find that this magical book can make your night a great one.
I am really loving the Coon Hollow Coven series where each book is a standalone but the characters appear nearly in every book so much so that I have started to feel like they are family and the Hollow is my own community, Ms. Moore makes her characters very authentic and either very charismatic or very hateful. Aggie is a witch who came for a fresh independent start from New Wish Coven, she has relatives in Coon Hollow who have offered her a cabin to live in but it seems that there is a curse attached to the cabin and suddenly Aggie is drawn into the evil surrounding the homestead. She is also seen as an outsider and is being ostracised by members of the coven. She is also haunted by a banshee who she must banish to free the coven from the dark curse put upon it. A romance with Logan the high priest of the coven seems to be in the air too so it's not all dark and wicked however she must win the battle with both the banshee and with those who feared difference and who hated her without even knowing her, she needed to be accepted to become a part of the coven. This book is full of witches obviously, magic, herbalist lore and spell practices, ghosts, house spirits, banshees, zombies and necromancy, a great depiction of links with nature and animals, the sun and the moon and also full of rivalry and hatred as well as love and loyalty. I am so looking forward to the next book in this easy to read and enjoyable series!
A superb second instalment from Hoon Hollow cove. Plenty of magic, action, mystery, friendship and romance. Highly recommended for anyone wanting a story to absorb themselves in. X
i have been a little witchy my whole life and proud of it.. these stories make me want to strengthen my inner witch, not my inner bitch. i love these stories so much, they are very well thought out and interesting.
To gain her place in the coven, the heroine finds out she has to fight a black curse, witches who use black magic and a cursed banshee. Unable to put this book down I got headaches from holding my breath. An intense and exhilarating read. I definitely recommend this book.
I enjoyed this well-written, fast paced book. Aggie, a witch from a different coven, has been offered a house in Coon Hollow Coven. Strange things are happening and the rumor is the house is cursed. Aggie discovers not only that the cabin is cursed, but she alone is destined to break the curse before moonrise on Samhain. This is a stand alone book, though is part of a series with related characters based in Coon Hollow Coven. This was a great book and I look forward to reading others by Marsha Moore. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
“Witchcraft of Coon Hollow lived and breathed through the souls of the dead.”
Aggie is a sun witch with haptic sense who moves out of her parent’s home to find herself. Upon moving into a cabin, she learns it is haunted by ghosts of witch kin and their talking animal familiars – including a banshee tied to the house who could put her in real danger!
Will Aggie be able to break the black magic curse? And as an outsider living in the homestead, will the witches of Coon Hollow accept her presence?
I’m really loving the Coon Hollow Series! I like the new adult theme and the witchcraft lore of these books. There is also a subplot of romance for those who love the endorphin rush of a happily-ever-after!
Aggie was such a great character. I really enjoyed reading about her adventures in Coon Hollow. The romance in this novel wasn’t as strong as book 1, making this book more of a female-driven novel. Aggie was no damsel in distress!
The world building was vivid and absolutely fantastic. When you read a book by Author Marsha A Moore, be prepared to escape into her fantasy worlds. I love her writing style.
Overall, I would highly recommend this series to fans of paranormal romance focusing on witchcraft. 5 stars!
Aggie moves into Coon's Hallow and immediately realizes that it will be challenge to be accepted by the local coven. Being a witch herself, she is used to a certain level of "creepyness", but something feels more off than she is used too. She soon learns that there is a curse. A curse she must break. To do so, she must deal with strange objects, crazy banshees and old magic. With the strength from her relationship with the coven's new High Priest, Logan, Aggie must find it in herself to break the curse and save the new life she wants to live.
Not your typical book about witches, which was nice, but I felt the writing was too dragged out. To be honest, I couldn't make through most of it. There were so many characters - and while I understand that this is part of an intertwined series - it was difficult to keep track of everything going on. While a short read, it was dense and unfortunately just could not catch my interest. The series has potential, as I feel the author does, so maybe with reading the other books in the series this particular one will given a second chance. 2/5 stars.

'Witches Cursed Cabin was one of those books that pulled me in. The storyline was very descriptive and I felt like I was a part of everything going on. This book has so many magical elements. Full of mystery, curses, familiars, deceit and a beautiful journey that takes Aggie for a ride. The characters were a great host of personalities. From the dead, to the ghosts, to the spirits and the persons with a pulse. It seemed to me that the ones that were alive we're the most dangerous. Aggie was pushed beyond her limits and grew as an individual as well as a witch. She has such a beautiful soul. Logan is a hunk. And with him being the High Priest, well that's a bonus. Cerise, Jancie, Shireen, Keir, Rowe and their familiars were a huge ally. I look forward to reading more of 'A Coon Hollow Coven Tale' series. A great add to your tbr list. Recommended read.
I read the other book of this series, "Witch's Moonstone Locket: A Coon Hollow Coven Tale" and found you don't have to read the first one in order to read this book. There are characters that appeared in the first book that make some appearances, but this book can definitely stand on its own. Marsha did a great job keeping a mystery going that keeps you reading on.
Aggie is an adorable character that manages the things thrown at her while also growing up. She seems to have led a sheltered life and has some real growing up to do. She is a character I can relate to and find refreshing. She has her heart in the right spot trying to do good for others as well as herself. Logan is a nice match for her, but in this story it is about our heroine Aggie.
I have received this book from the author for an honest review. (LoP, Lovers of Paranormal)
I have become a big fan of Marsha A Moore and her Coon Hollow Coven residents. Stories about witches are my favorite. Both of her coon Hollow Coven books are unique and things happen in her stories I have not seen before in other books. I love surprises and this book has a few. I also like when witches practice their craft in the books, where there are spells and I get to learn things along with the characters. Aggie knows she is a witch unlike Jancie from her first book but the witches in the Coon Hollow Coven are different then any she has run across before. Witches practicing dark magic threatens Aggie and her chance to start her new life. I cannot wait to meet the next resident of Coon Hollow.
Once again, Marsha A. Moore does not disappoint. This is book 2 in her new series, Coon Hollow Coven. It is the story of Aggie Anders who leaves her New Wish Coven to set out on her own in Coon Hollow. Although her Sun Witch powers are foreign the the coven members of Coon Hollow, she strives to fit in -- even moving into a cursed homestead. How she fits in and fights the curse and maybe finds a love interest, all make for an excellent read. As always, Marsha's stories take you by the hand and pulls you right into the story. Her characters are ones that you know you would love to meet in person.
All of the elements I love in a story are here—a haunted carriage house, odd magic, hexes, and a budding romance. Autumn is when spooky things are bound to happen, and they certainly do in Witch’s Cursed Cabin. The journey is full of surprises, some fun and some daunting, as we follow sun witch Aggie, an earthy young woman, as she strives to establish herself in Coon Hollow Coven. It’s a place where she can reconnect with loving relatives, but others in town, witches who practice black magic, aren’t so welcoming.
Intriguing and mysterious happenings on her property and the surrounding, dense woods kept me reading the scary-good story until the satisfying end.
I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review in LoP.
I love books dealing with the supernatural. This book has plenty of the supernatural and I enjoyed the story very much. All the characters were very likable and Fenton grew on me as a companion ghost to keep Aggie company but to also help her. The coyote and owl familiars were my favorite. The reason I gave this book 3 stars instead of 4 is because it's written in the 1st person. The story itself was very engrossing however I think it would come more alive if written in 3rd person..
Thank you for letting me read your book.

Ms Moore switches the traditional view of witches into real people, suffering the same human fears, agonies and pangs of rejection. She creates fascinating personalities, good and evil, and sets the stage of danger and magical jeopardy stalking that only a witch may know—black magic, soul stealing, banshees, talking animals, communication with the long dead, ghostly treachery, all peppered with romance.
An excellent tale that demands I read more of this author. Would recommend to anyone who loves a mix of fantasy, witchcraft, romance and sparkling characters.
If you like witch’s and magic and things of the paranormal kind you might like this book. I love a good paranormal read, but for me this was not a good one. There were places in this book that dragged and instead of hours reading it, to me it felt like days. Now the Characters are fairly thought out and developed but it just was not enough for me. I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.

Loved this book! I felt like I was in Coon Hollow and taking on the bad witches. I felt sorry for Aggie every time she was disappointed and happy when she succeeded. The mystery was fantastic even though this is not really a mystery book. It was great.
