‘Great Gippsland Mysteries’ by Grant Robinson 🔍 3/5 stars 🌟🌟🌟 Book review: 📖 Who doesn’t love some local mysteries?! I picked this one up from my local library and it was such a fascinating and enjoyable read. This little novel was filled with information on so many mysteries from my local area ranging from: 🔍 disappearances 🔍 murders 🔍 hidden treasures 🔍 UFO sightings 🔍 aliens 🔍 sightings of animals that are supposed to be extinct
💡 fun fact - in the area that I live (in a coastal/bush region of Australia) there has been MANY sightings of the thylacine (also known as the Tasmanian tiger). This animal was pronounced extinct a long time ago but there is evidence suggesting that they live in this area, and this novel contains theories as to how and why this happened.
✨ I really urge everyone to go to their local library once they reopen & check out some local history books and give some local authors some support. It’s always great to learn something new and it’s been really fun for me to learn more about my area then share the info and discuss it with my family 🥰
A really fun and fascinating insight into the weird and wonderful side of Gippsland. It really gives you a glimpse into past psyche's through it's use of historical first hand accounts to tell thought provoking stories. If you go into it with an open mind there's a whole timeline of alternate history for you to explore and I personally hope the author publishes a second edition soon.
Was so great to read all about local mysteries! I'm convinced on the thylacines and big cats being around (especially since I've had a big cat experience myself out in Western Victoria) however the UFO links with the RAAF seemed a bit far fetched. Solely because I'm on base all the time, my husband is in the planes and it just feels so far from the seedy, mysterious, aliens and shady dealings that were hinted at in the book. It does make a great story though!
Staying in Gippsland, I found a copy of this book in the bookshelf of the place where I stayed. The book brought the district to life for me. Most enjoyable. Thank you to the author.
