Everyone had always said that Lacey was stubborn. When a mysterious government taskforce quarantines her home town, just obeying orders and waiting for news of her family isn't enough.
Now, cut off from help and alone behind the barricades, Lacey discovers that stubbornness can be a virtue. The town is over-run with monstrous men who turn into wolves, and they have their eyes on her. All she has to rely on is her wit and her spirit, but that might just be enough.
They might be wolves, but she's a bitch.
Jack never thought it would end this way. When he led his pack of shifters in battle against the murderous force of a renegade pack, the last thing he imagined was having his pack taken away from him. Now, all he has is a shattered soul and a need for revenge.
When he finds a stray human woman lost in the woods, it's an opportunity. Through her, he can get to the rival alpha who murdered his pack.
It's the perfect plan. After all, how hard can it be for an alpha wolf to bond with a human?
Great concept, interesting plot but the execution is very poor. Everything in this book is rushed, from the relationship between the heroine and the Alpha, to the ending. It's disappointing because it could have been really good. It's not to say I didn't enjoy this book though, because I did, to an extent.
This story really wasn't bad at all. The execution and editing were subpar at best. I am not a grammar Nazi at all but there were a ton of simple mistakes that even bugged me.
Example: Jake instead of Jack. Also there were a few times words were missing or repeated. I do believe these could have been caught with a simple read through.
Even with those issues I still didn't hate it. This being labeled "Dark" is silly to me though. Maybe I missed it or something but to me this was just a standard shifter read. It wasn't really romancy either.
Anyway.....not bad but not great. Nothing really stuck out or made me really like or connect with these characters.
It was long-winded and had a pretty good ending. Just what I needed after several open ended series that I have to wait for! I thought this story was cute and sexy overall. Definitely recommend as a decent vacation book!
